Far Fetched Theory? Haunted Mansion, Halloween, and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken

This is a long-shot but I am curious to see what everyone thinks. Since it's Halloween season one of my family's favorite movies to watch is 'The Ghost and Mr. Chicken'. We are big Don Knott's and Andy Griffith Show fans.

Upon viewing last night I got inspired. Much of the design and visual cues of the Old Simmons Mansion started to really make me think of the various Disney versions of the Haunted Mansion. I was noticing the wallpaper, decor and especially the lighting of the set.

I then started to think about that this was the time period that Walt's team would have been working on the HM. The film was from 1966 but probably filmed in 1965.

Sorry to ramble on but I'm guessing that the Disney Studios and Universal weren't that far from each other....

Well A Fun fact was during the early filming of the Haunted Mansion Movie Don Knotts was to play as the caretaker..

I found this site http://www.accessnorthga.com/detail-pf.php?n=167743

Don Knotts was originally cast as the mansion's caretaker, but the part was deemed to small so it was snipped out. Pity. While Wallace Shawn provides comic relief, his role could easily have gone to the still adept Knotts.
