Just got off the phone with Disney Dining and was trying to book a reservation for Cinderellas Royal Table during the middle of May 2011 and was told that the windows of the restaurant will be covered from January to the beginning of June due to renovations. He said nothing else inside the restaurant would be affected. I would assume this means that the view outside is going to change. Maybe the removal of Dumbo??

I would assume that they are refurbing the back of Cinderella Castle, like what they're doing with Main Street and such. Dumbo isn't rumored to be removed until later in the expansion, and they would have to close down Toontown Fair to build the new Dumbo, and for some reason I don't think they would close the current Dumbo until the new ones were built. The timeline seems a bit early for this to be Dumbo work.

...So will Fantasyland look like a construction site when I go in January? Don't want my favorite area in the park to not sport some class, but then again Disney are great at that.

It's looked like one for quite a while now and will be for some time.

Ah, I see. Hopefully it won't take too much fun out of our MK visit.

Just being back a month from visiting the MK, I can tell you that the construction to us didn't take away from the fun and excitement. In fact Small World was still closed when we were there and is open now.

Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
Its a refurb of the back of Cinderella Castle! I remember reading it a few months back, the back of the castle is getting the treatment the rest got at the start of 2010

Anyone else wish they would paint the castle white again? It's been this off-pink pepto bismol color forr quite some time. Nothing beat the grandeur of the majestic white castle soaring against the blue sky. (Or maybe I'm reading too much early-WDW literature again...:lookaroun)

Wasn't the first couple of stories of the back side of the castle just worked on this spring?

I wonder if the FE is moving at a much quicker pace than we realize. Maybe they've fast-tracked it due to Potter?

Yes Please!

The lower sections are but the upper levels have a bit of pink in the palette. I want to say its been this way since the big mirror was removed, but I might be wrong.

Didn't they just do this? I have to go look back through all my pictures, the trips are getting jumbled in my head. January 2010 maybe?

Oh well. I feel fortunate enough that we get to go as often as we so, so I'm not letting a few walls and scrims bug me. No use getting up in arms over something you can't control.

I'm so excited that my next trip is Spring '12. I mean, I wish it was sooner, buuuut it will be so neat to go when things are really starting to heat up.

The off-white/rose color was originally the intended color of that section of the castle and was chosen in particular because it makes the castle look brighter and warm even on cloudy days whereas the original pure white scheme was very cold and forbidding.

.., but then again Disney are great at that.

What does this mean? You think Disney has no class? I am confused.

I was thinking a few days ago how interesting is the institute of Walt Disney World as a fixture in American culture and how it is pretty much a living and breathing historical monument that continues to hold the memories of many who pass that along to their kids.

Occasionally, monuments need to be taken care of so they can continue to be the strong-standing bastions of generational continuity that they are. I think it is silly to be upset that one small aspect will not be postcard perfect when you head there to pay homage. Would you rather it be a crumbling ivy-covered shell of what it used to be?

I know that's a deep assessment, but sometimes beauty is more than skin deep.
