Fantasmic goes dark from January - May 28, 2010

Just wanted to let everyone know, especially those who are planning trips, that Fantasmic won't be playing from January 3rd, 2010 until June. The Rivers of America will be drained as it is scheduled for a full 6-month rehab. This was confirmed by poster mrfantasmic at MiceChat - he is usually pretty reliable with his Fantasmic info.

Fantasmic! goes dark January 3, 2010 during the River refurb and returns June 2010.

It won't show on the calendar until they've finalized the attendance predictions.

This should make for an interesting scenario.. with Fantasmic closed and WoC premiering next door i'm scared to think of the crowds that will descend upon DCA :lookaroun

EDIT - Fantasmic will resume performances starting May 28, 2010

I wonder if they'll add any thing else to the show? I hope so not that it needs more but more enhancements never hurt anyone, also a great time to keep working on the dragon.

The crowds that will end up at DCA will be nice to see. Luckily those who want fireworks can watch Remember at DL.

it's a pretty long refurb so it should give them plenty of time to work on some Fantasmic upgrades (hopefully). The show is in really good shape now but I'd like to see the fountains upgraded. That's really the only thing that hasn't been updated yet - everything else looks great.

Ahh good point about the fountains! I think there was a minor update to them back in 03(last time ROA was drained) but with what WOC will bring the F! can defiantly use updating.

Yikes theres going to be a lot of walls at DLR with winter. Good thing and a bad thing:D but overall good IMO.

It looking like its going to be true :( The Rivers of America refurbishment will span Jan 4- May 14, 2010. Its said there will be entire track replacement for the river boats. I wouldn't let no performances of Fantasmic! get in the way, Remember...Dreams Come True should be playing on the weekends.

Disneyland has the best entertainmnet (to me) but its hit or miss. It seems EVERYTHING only plays during the summer. I may plan a August trip to Disneyland - I am not sure yet. I want to see WoC.

Fantasmic! enhancements

Details: Signifiant enhancements for Fantasmic!, including new scenes, are under consideration to help the show compete with the new "Disney's World of Color" show debuting in Spring 2010 at Disney's California Adventure.
Project Status: Unknown.
Open Date: Unknown.

River Belle Terrace replacement/expansion

Details: Long-rumored River Belle Terrace expansion would provide two-level dining and upstairs priority seating for Fantasmic! performances.
Project Status: Unknown
Open Date: Unknown

The Fantasmic! ones have been popping up for some time now as have the River Belle Terrace one. so remember that grain of salt. :)

The River Belle Terrace one I can see happening since they lost the Gallery seating to the Dream Suite(at the same time though River Belle has recently(08?) received major updating to the kitchens, dinning room and patio), but the Fantasmic! upgrades I can see happening a bit after WOC debuts.

With new projections/fountains?! :D

hopefully! so far, though, there is no indication that there'll be any significant upgrades.. still, i'm hoping that we'll see something new. even if it is something small.

whenever F! goes down for this long it always comes back slightly tweaked, so there is hope.

They have WOC across the way. They can lend a fountain or two.

I wonder if the dragon will be tweaked so its like the stop motion at the press event, note to TDO this is how to make a Summer Nightastic! announcement exciting... with the show directors and performers not Meg Crofton.....

Gosh, no kidding. I hadn't seen footage of Meg Crofton before, but she was not cut out for public speaking. Especially for topics related to entertainment and theme parks and things that would theoretically involve dynamic emotion.

Now if the Winn-Dixie in Kissimmee ever needs a Product Sample Hostess to tout the wonders of a new aerosol cheese spread for housewives lulled into a trance by the supermarket Muzak, then Meg Crofton is their gal!
