Fantasmic dinner package

We are arriving September 20 about 2:00 and heading over to MGM studios. We want to reserve a Fantasmic Dinner package for that night. I know you can't book the package until you are on site. My question is, do you think it is going to be possible to still get a package for that evening?

We are choosing to go to MGM firday because it stays open the longest the night we arrrive and we will spend all day Saturday at the MK, because it is the only day for the FITSF and Spectromagic parade. It is also the longest hours for the MK.

I think its possible.....u can check with the front desk when u check in....

it also depends on how many people are in ur party....it would be easier to accomidate (sp?) a smaller group of people than a larger group......

if nething...it doesn't hurt to ask....

Just make reservations at one of the restaurants that offer the package ( Brown Derby, Mamma Melrose's, etc.) and they will give you the Fantasmic priority seating for free. You can make reservations right now from your house. Just call 407-WDW-DINE. Also be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes from showtime or you will end up standing even with the priority seating.

I really didn't find the Fantasmic! Package that helpful, and we were there on Spring Break.

If I recall the ticket they give you says something along the lines of "when avaliable"...

The Fantasmic dinner package basically gives you priority seating to Fantasmic if you eat at a select MGM restaurant (I know Mama Melrose's and Brown Derby are offered -- not sure of which others). The only rule is that each adult in the party must order an entree -- however, we had soup and shared a flatbread pizza last time and that was fine, since it worked out to the price of a meal.

They will not switch a regular reservation over to the Fantasmic package seating. We had a regular reservation about two weeks ago that I had made months in advance and before we left home I double checked with 407-WDW-DINE, Wilderness Lodge guest services desk, Disney Vacation Club reservationists (in case there was a special offer for DVC members) and the Mama Melrose's. They only allow a certain number of Fantasmic packages and, while we got a package reservation, we couldn't switch our existing reservation over. We also could not get the time we wanted for six people -- this was two days before hand when we checked in. So depending on crowds and how fussy you are about the time, you may not be able to get the reservation you wanted.

also, I think that the seating areas for the dinner packages are off to the sides, at least I seem to recall the end sections being roped off as reserved and they didn't start filling up until about 1/2 hour before the show. someone will correct me if I'm mistaken, I'm sure!! I think all the seats are pretty good anyway. We sat in the center section, but did not have the dinner package, so needless to say, we waited for 2 hours.... would have been nice to spend that waiting time doing something!!! the show is incredible though, but I think in the future I would go with the dinner package for it.

have a great time!!

That's right hockeymom. The seats are all the way to right of the theater when looking at the stage, but they afford an excellent view. We got to the show about 45 minutes before start time and got great seats -- about six rows back and as close to the center as the reserved seats allow. The regular seating was almost full by the time we showed up to take our reserved seats.

When using reserved seating, you use the ticket given to you at the restaurant to enter through a gate at the "gas station" near the entrance to the park.

I found the whole experience quite wonderful and will definitely use this service again in the future.

I see so you have a dinner at one of the selected mgm restraunts, then after dinner you head over to Fantasmic where they have a section of seating roped off for you so you dont have to deal with the crowds, does this sound right

if so thats sounds great .

2 things to add based on my recent experience with this package:

First, as long as you're in WDW, you can book a Fantasmic Dinner Package up to a week in advance. AND you don't have to do it at MGM. Any guest services at any of the theme parks will be able to book it for you. We learned about this and booked our Fantasmic Dinner Package five days in advance from AK guest services.

Second, you don't have to go to Fantasmic directly after dinner. You can actually eat early, depending on your Fantasmic Dinner Package reservation booking. The waiter/waitress or host/hostess will give you the "pass" that you can take to the special entrance (gas station gate) at the appropriate time. We ate early then literally had the park to ourselves from 6:15 to 7:45 (for that evening's 8:30 show). We did RnRC, Muppets 3-D, Star Tours, and kids even got to play in the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids Playground. Just know in advance that most of the live shows (Indy, Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast) are done with their performances by 6:00ish.

We thought this package was great and would definatly do it again. True, it doesn't put you front and center but the Fantasmic amphetheater is designed to have good to great viewing from any location.

Can you also call the Resort Guest Relations you are staying at and ask them to book the Fantasmic Package prior to arriving? I thought that was the case. I am staying at the Beach Club from 11/24 through 11/29. The first night I have PS at the Yachtsman's Steakhouse and for Thanksgiving I have PS at the Coral Reef.

Re booking thru Resort Guest Relations--

That I don't know. We stayed off-site, so had no need to even consider that option.

Might be worth a phone call or e-mail to your intended Resort Hotel to ask. Or simply wait until you arrive to WDW and try booking this way.
I know you can do PS ressies thru Resort Guest Relations, and when we booked our Fantasmic Dinner Package, the gal at AK put us into the computer reservation system. So how hard could it be for a resort Guest Relations to do this?

But Disney sometimes has screwy rules--things that make sense to them but not to the guests.

Lilo - tried it, wasn't successful. I did exactly what you are proposing (called Beach Club Guest Relations prior to arrival for the Fantasmic! Dinner Package). They would not let me do it. It couldn't hurt to try, but I certainly wouldn't count on it.

Thanks. The reason I was asking was because on Deb's web someone mentioned you can call a week in advance and get dinner show reservations. Maybe if I call GR at MGM at tell them I'm staying on-site??? I don't want to get there and make reservations for a day 5 days later when I'm leaving. If I can get a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday than that would be perfect.

Thanks Hochmania. Took your advice and looked it up on that website. I'll try calling on 9/16 to see what they have to say. If not, I'll try asking about it when I get to the Beach Club.:sohappy:

Was at WDW just after Easter during peak season and lots of crowds. Those were the three dining choices--in fact, I was told that they don't include Hollywood & Vine during slow season.

We ate a Mama Melrose's. It was nice. Everyone big and little enjoyed the food. Kind of hard to find, though. They keep it hidden in a far corner of the park, between the Muppet store and the Buzz/Woody meet & greet area (Al's Toy Barn?). So the place wasn't too crowded, no wait really to get in (which with other PS ressies, we usually had at least a 5-10 minute wait). If you like Italian, go for it.
