Has anyone done the fantasmic dining package. We are a party of 5 , two adults and 3 kids ages 17, 8 and 3. Which restaurant would you suggest.. I think there are 3 options: hollywood brown derby, hollywood &^ vine, or Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano?

Any advice would be appreciated.. This is our first disney trip.. We're going in the fall.. Is this part of the dining package or is this extra? Thanks so much :)

We did it last year and thought it was worth it for 1 TS credit. Would definitely choose Mama Melrose out of the options. You get an appetizer along with the standard entrée/dessert that the DDP allows, making it an even better value.

In terms of Fantasmic, it reserves certain sections of the theater for those with the package, which helped diminish the number of people in your particular space, also saving you some time of having to 'line up early' to get better seats.

On the other hand, we've walked into Fantasmic plenty of times without the reserved seating and never had huge problems getting a seat. So for us, the decision is really about the food. :p

Last August was the first time we felt the need to get "reserved seating" for Fantasmic. We were on the DP and chose Mama Melrose - it was an excellent choice (despite being the furthest of the three from Fantasmic). HBD is not worth the 2 credits.

Note - your seat isn't reserved - it is a section of seating reserved for the Fantasmic Dining Package - the earlier you arrive the nearer the front you get - although you can sit anywhere within the section

I really like doing the Mama Melrose Fantasmic dinner package. I usually do the Fantasmic show a couple of times during my visits, and really like the dinner package section for one of the showings. That said, I did get to show late once when the only seats left next to the food vendors and still thought it was great.

You can use this on you dinning plan it will cost 2 dining credits instead of one so check your restaurants and how many points their cost or you can just pay for meal. I personally pay mine and choice Mamas and the book Hollywood and use my dinning plan. Any other questions just message me.

I've done this twice, eating at Mama Melrose both times. The first time was great, but the second time was... not so much. Unless things have changed, you'll get ticket stubs with the times you're allowed to enter your viewing area printed on them but don't be late! Last year my fiance and I were literally two minutes late and weren't allowed in the special viewing area despite the fact it was halfway empty. :(
