Fantasmic! Dining Experiences

Depends on the restaurant, some of them, Like the Hollywood Brown Derby are signature dining and may require multiple credits. Where were you planning/hoping to dine?

Mama Melrose

It's one dining credit. It includes an appetizer, entree and dessert. Apparently, dessert is served family-style if you're on F! Dining. So you don't get to pick what you want.

Also, F! is only available for early reservations at Mama Melrose for some reason. The latest we could book was 3:40 though I have heard of some people getting it as late as 4:15. No idea what the latest it is offered would be.

The Fantasmic dining experience isn't any different than eating at the same restaurants without the reserved Fantasmic seating and separate entry. The prices are the same, the DDP credits are the same. The only difference is when you arrive for your meal your server hands you a pass to get into the reserved area. Beyond that, nada. :)

Is there a variety of foods offered in the family-style serving? I was just looking at the Fantasmic dinner packages today, and was considering Mama Melrose's, as well. Trying to decide if I want to cancel breakfast at Tusker House and pick up MM.

You get to pick your entree and appetizer. But for whatever reason, they switched to a pre-plated dessert sampling. It's Chef's Choice and there doesn't seem to be any consistency regarding what they send out. This could end tomorrow for all I know.

Same with H&V. Our "dinner and a show" ressies at H&V are for 4pm. I think this also depends on what time of year you are visiting. The CM that booked our dinner and show ressies said the dinner availability was "earlier than normal dinner time" because F! is shown at 6:30. (We're visiting in January.)

I specifically picked an evening with a later show (7:30 instead of 6:30) and it didn't push dinner back any. Although I have heard that service at Mama Melrose can be slow. A common complaint is that it takes a while to get seated. And with 3 course, it's a long meal. So maybe 3:45 isn't so bad.

The Mama Melrose Fantasmic dining is really very good. My DW and I did this on our last trip and enjoyed it very much. Friendly service, good food, nice quiet place. I highly recommend it!

I've heard that the reserved seating area isn't the best view.

Also, are the servers "in character" at all? Do they ham it up like the Prime time Cafe?

I heard the same rumor re: the seating area not being the best view and y'know what? We did it anyway and I now can say, at least in my opinion, that the rumor is completely false. We absolutely loved the view we had from over there, not to mention the lack of being squeezed in as close as possible to everyone around us. There is a water spray projection that faces that area directly and honestly with the size of the "mountain" there wasn't a single spot of it we couldn't see perfectly. :)

As far as the servers... Prime Time is the only place you find "actors" as servers like that really.

While getting the Fantasmic package is a good deal, the seating they give you for the show is crappy. It's on the righthand side, and if youre not there by a certain time, they open it up to everyone. So be sure to get there on time.

yummy, I really liked Mama Melrose. I know it has some haters, but it was better than my meal at Tutto Italia. I love making their recipe for chicken parm at home.

We did the F! pkg at Mama Melrose back in 2010. At this point you could select your own dessert, but it sounds like this has changed. Beyond that...the latest we could get was a 3:50 (or something like that). They had the hardest time seating us. We were a party of 6, we arrived a little early, but it wasn't until like 4:45p that they could find a table to accomodate us and they wouldn't split us. Once we were seated, we had a nice (although slow) meal. As others have noted, it included an appetizer, entree and dessert.

We really had to motor after the meal to make it there by 6pm...seriously had to sprint, but we did make it. There were plenty of places to sit when we arrived, but the whole area filled up very quickly. I know some people complain about the view, but we had no problem with it.
