Fantasmic 2nd Showing..

7 of us in total will be in Disney during the Peak Spring Break week. We plan on spending the entire day open to close in DHS on Monday April 17th which has a showing of Fantasmic at 8:30 PM. It is a kids geared trip and have a 7 PM Dining Reservation for Hollywood and Vine. We do not intend to add (nor is it available with the reserved dinner time slot) the Fantasmic dining package to the meal.

With that being said, will they likely, as it gets closer add a 2nd show of Fantasmic at 9PM and if so, even though it is quieter than the first show, are the chances good the 7 of us would be able to walk into the show and get a good seat? How much "quieter" is a second show on a peak week?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
There is no guarantee they will add a second showing but if they do the earliest it would be if later is 9:30 or 9:45pn being the show is 30 min long and they have to empty the theater etc. With a 7pm reservation it's highly unlikely you will make it to the 8:30pm show as standby if they don't add one. HBD we always find we usually have to wait 20-30min for our table after our reservation time etc then it usually takes an added 1.5 hours or 2 hours for our meal every time for whatever reason at HBD. So those are things to consider if you want to see Fantasmic for certain. ;)

Thanks for the feedback! Like I mentioned, I do not intend on going to Fantasmic with the dinner package. I just want to walk in if there is a 2nd show. I am just curious if the 2nd show would be crowded during a peak week where we might not even be able to get seats (or good ones) assuming they added it.

I worked on Sunset for my CP- I am pretty certain you would know at the beginning of the day if there would be a second show by looking at the Times Guide. They wouldn't just add one after seeing the first show was crowded.

No guarantees that they'll add a second show but you should have no problems walking up and getting in right up until showtime. Might not get a great seat but I'm almost certain that you'd get in.

The second showing could also be available as an extra Fastpass until later in the day.

It's rare but it's happened before where they've added a second Fantasmic on the day.

Thanks! My last fast pass is for 5:30 PM. I do have a fast pass for one of the tier 1 attractions (Toy Story), so I assume (as long as it is available) I would be able to get a FP+ for the second showing if one were added and the window to get a FP for the show was still open. Otherwise, we will just try walk into the second showing if added.

I wouldn't cancel your Toy Story Fastpass for Fantasmic, even if you end up waiting longer for Fantasmic than Toy Story at least a lot of the wait is seated.

If you turn up 30-45 minutes before the second showing you'll 100% get in and should, at least, get a half decent seat.

You're very welcome. I knew you didn't want to do a package, but just wanted you to be prepared you may miss Fantasmic if they don't add a second show. We usually don't do a package either because we don't like eating earlier of which usually the package bookings are earlier dinner times or lunch.
For us Fantasmic is always a must every trip at least once. But if you are okay with not seeing it that night then you will be fine regardless. HBD is a fave of ours and we always enjoy it. Hope they do add a second showing and if so you shouldn't have a problem seeing that one but as others noted may not be the best seats if you arrive right before it starts but usually the second showings do have less people. Hope y'all have a wonderful trip. ;)

The end result worked out potentially perfect for my family...I ended up noticing a 1:45 PM Mama Melrose reservation available which included Fantasmic (1st show) at 8:30. So we booked it as it fits our plans perfectly and is a good idea for lunch. We are eating at Hollywood and Vine for dinner (separate from any package) and pushed the reservation back as much as we could...6:45 PM. This cuts it close...We are guaranteed seats to Fantasmic with lunch at Mama Melrose, but we basically have an hour and 15 minutes to eat and then 30 minutes to walk to Fantasmic...our seats might be higher up but still in the dining package area. I'm fairly confident we will not have any issues unless Hollywood and Vine takes time with the characters..the good news is it is a buffet so we can eat right when we get in side. I will continue to look for cancellations to push the dinner back even more to 6-6:30ish. So the 2nd showing will not even be necessary in my case. Thanks for every ones feedback.
