Family's 1st trip to Disneyland in February, questions about rehabs

After many trips to Disney World and a Disney cruise last year my family is breaking tradition and taking our very first ever trip to the West Coast to visit Disneyland next month! We booked a few months ago and now see that unmentioned rehabs are now listed during our trip schedule. I seen last week that they announced a rehab of Sleeping Beauty's castle and there are fences around it and that my daughter's absolute favorite ride, Splash Mountain, is going to be closed for rehab through the 15th. Trying to figure out the best angles/locations to get photos taken that minimizes the gray wall so I'd appreciate any advice from everyone!

I'm also holding off on telling my daughter about the ride possibly being closed in hopes it is done earlier but does anyone know if there's the possibility that Splash Mountain may be operating earlier than the 15th? We were originally going to be in the park from the 9th-14th and am now trying to rearrange our schedule just so we can try and get her into the park on the 15th to ride it that morning before we leave for LA.

Where'd you hear Splash reopens on the 15? Both the Touring Plans refurb calendar, and the Disneyland website don't have a reopen date listed.

MiceChat showed the 15th for whatever that’s worth.

You're right- I checked the operating calendar for Splash Mountain on the Disneyland site. Looks like they're planning on getting it back up then.

Though I'm reminded of last year- it was announced to be reopening April 14. I was there that day (got a day ticket) and had planned that day to make sure Splash was open. It ended up not reopening that day, and was postponed until the 15 of April.

I remember that happening to you! So I definitely wouldn’t recommend planning a trip around a reopening date, since those change so often, unless it’s no additional cost or inconvenience to do so, but even then, be fully prepared for it to not reopen as planned.

A reminder you are going to the Greater Los Angeles Area, which, based on Tv/Radio coverage, is 5 counties (or parts thereof). LA, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura. It is not uncommon for locals to travel to multiple counties on a regular basis.

Heck, I have passes to Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott's, SeaWorld, Aquarium of the Pacific and LA Galaxy games. (Live in West Anaheim). These are all day trips for the most part.

You might want to look to take at least a half day to do Splash Mountain later on your visit. Such as start the day somewhere else, the end the day at DL doing Splash, Mix Magic and other evening items. Maybe dinner at Anaheim GardenWalk, such as Fire+ICE.

The best way to enjoy Disneyland is to not plan in advance. Just go with the flow and enjoy the magic around you. This isn't WDW and shouldn't be treated as such.
