Family T-Shirts

I am one of those people who loves doing things herself and being craft but I sorely lack creativity. For example, I sit down to work on my scrapbook and usually have to look at a few pages other people have done to really get inspired and eventually come up with a layout.

I've decided that for this next trip I am going to make shirts for each of us to wear. I want it to be blatantly Disney but fairly simple. Something for each member of the vacation crew, maybe with their names on them somehow, maybe with a 2015 designation... but beyond that I'm at a loss.

I was wondering, for those of you who have had/made custom shirts for your trips in the past, what have you done? Anyone have any cool suggestions for what I should do for ours? It can be just about anything really as the plan is to print onto iron-on T-Shirt transfers so once a design is put together it'll be simple to get it onto some shirts.

We bought custom decals from an etsy seller (https://www.etsy.com/shop/MissMorgan) and I ironed them onto T-shirts I bought on clearance from Old Navy. It was a great option for us because it was inexpensive (the T-shirts were something like $5 each and the decals were $7 each) and we got to fully customize each one with our names and our pick of "Mickey head" logos in different colors and styles. As you can see, my son wanted the pirate head in a green color scheme, my husband opted for a plain Mickey with his name in blue, and my daughter opted for a princess design in her favorite colors of yellow and hot pink. (A note about "name" shirts and "stranger danger" -- do be sure and tell the kids that if someone tries to summon them by name, it doesn't mean the person is someone who they know, or who they should obey or trust -- it's just someone who can read their shirt.)

Not the best picture and you can't see my shirt (which had a red Minnie bow and my name in red), but you get the idea... :)

I have to say, although DH wasn't sold on the idea of "dorky" matching shirts, he quickly changed his mind once he realized how easy it was to stick together and keep the kids from wandering off when we all matched. Even when we didn't have our "family" shirts on, we planned ahead and packed/wore shirts that were all of the same color each day (we all owned t-shirts in red, navy, orange, green and black, so those were what I took), so we could find each other easily in the crowd.

Love these suggestions so far! @Weather_Lady those are very simple and cute, I like them a lot. @docdebbi I absolutely love those! That may be like a 2nd shirt idea. I have never done tie die that required a specific shape like that but I'm sure I could figure it out. Talk about easy to find each other if you're separated! :)

I just made tshirts for the family trip in March. I found images online, saved them to my photos, bought iron on printer paper from the craft store, did some editing and ironed on the pics with names, then decorated them a little with tshirt paint. All in all, it was pretty simple.
