We have been to WDW 2x. First time was our wedding and honeymoon. That was Nov/DEC 06. Then we took our daughter Dec 11 and so in a couple years we are going back again this time we will have 10 yr old and a 5.5 yr old. Having never been any time other then in december we are looking at early october or right after columbus weekend to go. Looks like traditionally warmer weather so more fun for swimming.
I know its early but we are thinking of planning out early this time and gathering ideas rather then wait till right before we want to book.
We thought about YC or BC with SAB but i read the walls are so thin at both and that being convention resorts you never know if our resort could be taken over and people say it ruins everything.
We thought about CR but the lack of theming and the pool has none either really make it seem like no fun resort.
the Poly was our other choice. It looks nice and construction should be done by then. My daughter liked the idea of the Volcano pool and getting a ground level so her and her brother could run outside and be near the beach.
So many resorts so many choices. We have always stayed off site and find that when we get tired we go to our villa but then after resting we find we dont want to go back to the parks because of the 15min drive to the parking lot. Then catch a tram and then another 10 to the TTC and it just seemed like so much effort but then we felt like we didnt get FULL use of our tickets. Then like when we would want to go see the nighttime parade at MK we didnt even go till like 4PM so that our daughter 4 then would make it through.

So we are really hoping this will be a new experience for us and then being in the middle of it all the time or being able to come back rest and then quickly go back will make for more fun for the kids rather then go go go all day long.

The Poly sounds like a great choice for you. You can use the monorail for easy access to/from the MK & Epcot.

One of our favorites is the Boardwalk. It's very convenient to Epcot & DHS. We enjoyed getting up in the morning and strolling over to Epcot. If you think you might want to head back to your resort in the afternoon, that might make it easier.

Dont like the value resorts. It always seems so crazy when we go over and take photos. People running everywhere and again you are stuck with a bus to get to any of the parks.

If you're looking for convenience to the parks, you have to narrow your choices to deluxe resorts. Staying on property is not necessarily as convenient as it sounds. Most of the mods are a 15 minute drive from any park.

Why not try WL? You'd be a boat ride from MK, you can see the water pagent & some rooms have bunk beds!

I looked into WL but it seems to secluded from stuff. Maybe not so. Have to look into it again. It looks nice and better theming then the CR.

I have stayed at the YC when they've had conventions and, honestly, they never interfered with our experience. The YC and BC pool is fantastic, like a mini water park which the children will love and we all know the pool is important to them. October is a great time to go because you'll not only have Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (a separate ticketed event, but so worth it IMHO) but also Epcot's Food & Wine festival. I've stayed at all the resorts except Art of Animation, so I'd be happy to help you navigate the choices.

I've stayed at both Beach Club and Beach Club DVC numerous times and have never had a problem with thin walls or taken over by convention people. There does seem to be more families with smaller children at BC compared to YC from what I can tell walking around the lobby and restaurants.

Are things busier during the MNSSH and the Food and wine festival? You said youd staed at YC i read complaints about walls being so thin you can hear everthing at YC and BC. I just cant see thats 100% true. But sometimes people get something in their head and then it gets repeated and so on

Stayed at BC 2013,2014, YC 2010. Noise never a problem. The rooms next to us never complained about my wife. JK. I've never slept better things were so quiet. Thank God for the wakeup call.

Complained about your wife LOL. Hopefully she doesnt read that.
For staying in the BC/YC how long is it to get to MK from there? Since you have to take a bus or walk through epcot to the monorail.

YC is picked up first, BC next, then straight to MK. Once you're on the bus 15-20 minutes? AK is a direct trip too. Downtown a couple stops between. I always take the bus to MK. Coming back we will take the monorail or ferry to TC, then monorail to epcot and walk from there, stopping for a ride, snack or drink. To go to MK via epcot will take too long especially if you want to get there for rope drop.

My family (2 adults, 2 kids 5 and 1 at the time) stayed at Poly last april. Nice that you can take the monorail two stops or the water taxi over to MK. Stay on the beach at night to watch Wishes and/or the water pageant, watch the torch lighting in the evening, zero entry pool, beaches. As with the other resorts they will have movies on the beach as well. Also have the kids pirate adventure launching from GF if interested. And short walk to TTC for Epcot.

Well sorta. I like the idea being close to stuff and on the ground floor you could have that kind of extension and the kids can run around in the grass and such. But style wise its not my fav. My fav style would be maybe the boardwalk or BC or something futuristic.

I tend to agree w/ giving Wilderness Lodge another look. AMAZING theming, great location, and an amazing pool area! Only a boat ride from MK makes it ideal for going back to your room for an afternoon rest. There's also great dining choices right at the resort.
My family (2 children 10 & 8) love this resort more than I can convey here. I say reconsider.

I like Beach Club or POFQ. We stayed at FQ for our kids first trip (also a family of 4) and the small size was nice to get them used to being in Disney. We never had problems in Beach Club with the noise either.

In october would there be a problem with the bus being full before getting to YC or BC to go to MK?
How long does it typically take to go from BC to MK?
