Extremely Bold Plan

Not that The World needs a 5th gate with the work that needs done at the other 4 but I'd like to envision a way to get not only a 5th gate, but a 6th gate as well. A guy can dream, right?

So we have a decrepit, under-used, ghost of a DownTown Disney. How do we get more people to go there for shopping and eating? I say by attaching a 5th gate to the end of the West Side... then in later years attach one to the end of the East Side as well.

This would then make DTD like its own City Walk; connecting the two theme parks with a strip of shops and eateries.

Now some demolition of things that are already in those locations would have to happen. Such as the golf course at OKW (which they'd never get rid of probably) and on the other side the Buena Vista Resorts which I'm not even sure if Disney owns that section but they could probably buy it out. Haha.

Remembering that this is nothing but my pure imagination and dream and that it would probably not come true at all, what kind of parks do you think should cap the ends of DTD? The nice thing about the space that is available is that they are slightly bigger than DHS and with all the restaurants in between the two parks, you could just put a few QS restaurants in the parks and save space for more rides and attractions.

Lake Buena Vista would make a great spot for WoC too. Haha.

I would definitely want to see this kind of thing happening to Downtown Disney. The great part of your idea is the accessibility to each of the parks, as well as the Downtown area. The rest of WDW is so far spaced apart, this would be a fresh change of pace.

I can't think of any park ideas off the top of my head, did you have any?

I think that's an excellent idea. I think an Islands of Adventuresque Disney Park would make an excellent fifth gate and gear it more towards the Pirates of the Caribbean films, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and maybe even Indiana Jones and Star Wars. They could bring back 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and throw in Journey to the Center of the Earth. I've always thought Narnia would make a good "land" and movies like Atlantis, Treasure Planet, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules and The Black Cauldron (I think) deserve more notice in the Parks.

You know, this is kind of how Disneyland and California Adventure are set up, being right across the way from each other, and I have to say, I kind of prefer it that way. It gives the Park Hoppers validity. You can easily switch parks without losing too much time, unlike in Florida, where the Park Hopper option tends to be inconvenient. I think this idea would increase the sales of the Park Hopper option in Florida, leading to even more revenue than a new park normally would.

@Wishmaker, I like your idea as well. It already gets my blood pumping!
