Extra Magic Hours question

Trip is in six days! so excitied, but it will be my first time using Extra Magic Hours (first trip there they didn't exist, second and third trip was not staying on property) and if I am in the park before it closes, what is the procedure for Extra Magic Hours?

(I am aware this may have changed with the MagicBand, but I am just curious about the process overall)

Before Magic Bands were implemented the process was simply that if you were in the park after it had "closed" the General Public, you had to show your room key to get on the attractions that were open for EMH. With the advent of Magic Bands, I'm thinking that since you can't have one unless you're staying on property, you just show your band. I'd assume at some point they'll move to a system of actually "beeping" in with your band to enter the attraction though I'm not sure how that'd be implemented unless the FP queue is what's used (since that's where the Mickey is that you touch your band too).

I'm sure at some point they will have to scan bands, because I have a band from my last trip and am staying off property this time. EMH doesn't fit my schedule this weekend, but I wonder if I could get in...?

I will add this... since they've yet to phase out the room keys (KTTW cards) I'd bring it with you to be 100% sure. You don't want to just show your band and have them ask where the KTTW card is y'know?
