Extra magic hours question

I know the extra magic hours are back, and I was wondering how they work when the park stays open later. One time when I was there they had extra magic hours, but only in the morning, so the people with resort tickets where let in early. Now, how does it work when the park stays open late? How do they determine what people are staying at the resorts from the people who are just there for a day? Can someone help me out here.

Everyone using EMH gets a wristband from distribution tabels set up around the park or at the gate as they enter that evening. Everyone needs a wristband and to get a wristband everyone needs a room-key card.

EMH are EVIL!!!
Magic Kingdom
EMH WEd-3 hours after closing
friday one hour early

EPCOT
Thursday- late
mon-early

Studios
Sunday late
tuesday early

Animal Kingdom
Tuesday late
Saturday early

but like i said EMH are kinda evil...esp when you are walking on TTA for four hours straight. I would rather have E Ride nights...when I went to ERide nights it wasnt too busy at all...but EMH tend to be busy...for about 15 min last night there was actually a line for TTA...which as you know rarely ever happens.

I had a question pertaining to the Evening EMH. Is EMH seasonal? Is it operating during December? I don't remember them doing it last December.

Evening EMH's are crowded (the only time I've seen a line through the queue of Star Tours since it opened - they only had one vehicle running), but I still have a great deal of fun with them.

If you are going to ride rides, get up and do the morning EMH's. In the time between 8am and 10am you can see a good chunk of the major rides.

Evening EMH are more about hanging out in the parks after dark for me. Just being there, more so than riding rides continuously.

As AEfx stated, Evening EMHs are a heck of a lot more crowded than I thought they'd be. (Although, the later the park is open, the less chance of it being super crowded. For example, I'm pretty sure the parks are almost dead at 2 a.m.)

I went to MK's EMH's just a few weeks ago and the parks was more crowded that night than they were during the day before. The day before, I was walking on rides and on EMH nights I was actually waiting in line.

I also noticed that a lot of people are going to the park with the EMHs that evening and staying all day. This is due to the fact that most people aren't getting park hoppers anymore with the new MYW tickets. Therefore, this drives crowd levels up at the EMH park for the entire day. That's why I've learned to basically avoid the park that has EMHs b/c you won't get to ride a heck of a lot.

(Now note, these rules all apply to off-peak times. During peak times, I am sure that during EMH's the lines will not be that bad, but then again, the parks are also open a lot later on those nights too...meaning less people will stay at the parks that late anyway)

:veryconfu wait what?? i'm confused... Did they get ride of E-ride nights or something? :lookaroun
Yes, E-ride nights are no more. Now they have Extra Magic Hours which occur at a different park per day, and start either one hour before the park opens (like it used to), or NOW stays open "up to" 3 hours later.

And remember that the EMH will funnel a huge majority of all Disney Resort Guests into that one park, especially those who cannot park hop. EMH is a great idea, especially when you are NOT at the park giving extra hours.

Have fun.

I never liked E Ride Nights b/c they were only for those who could afford it, where only at Magic Kingdom where Fantasyland and Adv. were closed (right??) and were only offered during certain time periods.

EMH, tho more popular, are a free service for Disney Guests and have a lot of rides open inside the parks and are used at every park during the entire year, so far.

And paying the 12 bucks per person for E Ride Nights, and encountering 25 minute waits for Space and Big Thunder were not so fun. I'd rather go in for free and stroll around and go on a few rides, not worrying about "wasting money."

E-Rides were nice since it was a limited ticket event. EMH aren't limited in numbers since anyone staying on property can have it. What was nice about E-Ride was that it was just MK. Sure, you think it would be nice to have the EMH at night for the other parks, but it was a big problem for MGM. Having only a select number of things to do at MGM, AK, and even Epcot, the ride lines get REALLY long.

I liked having the extra hour in the morning as we were able to get a lot done, but we didn't think it worked well at MGM because of crowd levels with select places to go.

We just did the EMH for 3 nights in a row, although the park was more crowded than the last time I did and E-Ride Night (179 tickets sold) it was still workable with everything nearly walk-on. By 1:45 AM the park was really empty.
