Extra Magic Hours and ability to participate

Hello Everyone!

My wife and I are going to be spending two nights at the Grand Californian next week and two days in Disneyland and California Adventure.

A lot of the documents I see report that you can only participate in the morning magic hours if you have a three day park hopper ticket. We have two day park hopper tickets, so we are out.

But others say that we can participate, because we are staying at the Grand Californian.

Can anyone advise what is correct?

Thanks,

Johnny

I'm pretty sure that as long as you're staying as a resort guest you are allowed to utilize any of the EMHs. Where did you read that you aren't allowed to?

I've been looking into this as well, so I'd like to hear what the DL veterans have to say, but I've seen it mentioned that Resort guests can get early entry every morning it's offered (Sun, Tues, Thur, Sat) by showing their room key and park ticket, but the Disney site indicates you can get that early entry only once. I think you can also get into DCA early via the GC.

* Magic Morning Early Admission at Disneyland Park

Magic Morning early entry allows admission into selected attractions at Disneyland Park before the Park opens to the public on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday.

Only registered Guests at a Disneyland Resort Hotel who have a valid admission ticket, Guests who have purchased select Disneyland Resort Vacation Packages or Guests holding special Disneyland Resort Tickets that include Magic Morning admission benefits may participate.

Each member of your travel party must have a valid theme park admission. To enhance the Magic Morning experience, it is strongly recommended that guests arrive at least one hour and 15 minutes prior to regular park opening. Magic Morning admission is based on availability and does not operate daily. Applicable days and times of operation and all other elements including, but not limited to, operation of attractions, entertainment, stores and restaurants and appearances of characters may vary and are subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.

Also just keep in mind that DL's Magic Mornings only operate 1 hour prior to the regular scheduled opening.

I looked on the CM website for DL and this is what I found....

Early Entry is offered to select Guests of the Disneyland® Resort on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays 1 hour prior to scheduled park opening.
Eligible Guests include:
Guests of the Disneyland® Hotel, Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel® and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel® and Spa, who have a valid admission ticket and Resort ID Card.
Pre-arrival domestic Guests who have purchased 3+ day hopper tickets.
Japanese market Guests who have purchased 2+ day hopper bonus tickets.
Tourist in-market Guests who have purchased 3+ day hopper tickets from local hotels or visitor centers.

Also as nemofinder found, you must be a Guests at a Disneyland Resort Hotel. So nope, you're good to go. =)

Can somebody explain what the last three mean?

I think this is how it goes.

Pre-arrival domestic Guests who have purchased 3+ day hopper tickets.
Guests who arrive to the resort with tickets in hand. They bought it online, AAA or something similar as the Magic Morning is part of the promo.

Japanese market Guests who have purchased 2+ day hopper bonus tickets.
Im guessing on this one, but guests traveling from Japan who bought the tickets before hand. Wait DLR gets international tourists!?! I thought it was a tiny locals only park;):cool:

Tourist in-market Guests who have purchased 3+ day hopper tickets from local hotels or visitor centers

Guests who arrive to the resort with out tickets, and would then purchase tickets from their hotel's front desk, or one of those authorized ticket sellers(I think Anaheim GardenWalk has one of them)

Im fairly certain the DLR ticket booths do not offer 3 day park hoppers with a magic morning, so what the above want you to do to get Magic Morning is to pre-purchase or from your hotel.

Course I could be totally wrong on all the above but

nemofinder22 summed it up.

As additional info, the "Japan market" is specifically Japanese guests who bought their tickets through the Japan Travel Bureau (JTB). They get a bunch of other perks and some great deals through that outfit too; it's sort of like an Auto Club that you belong to just by being Japanese and using their ticket offices in the big Japanese cities. You can see the JTB logo on pamphlets and things around Anaheim.

I was chatting in line recently with some nice folks from Australia... WHAT?!? Disneyland gets furrin' tourists?!? It's just a tiny little locals-only park! Have you seen the size of their Castle? No one from outside of SoCal ever goes to Disneyland!... Oh, pardon me, I had some Floridian slip out there for a moment. Anyway, i was chatting in line recently with some nice folks from Australia, and they were really bummed that Disneyland doesn't offer as good of deals to Aussies or Kiwis as the Japanese get. The husband does business in Japan and is familiar with the JTB outfits and wishes he could be eligible for perks like they offer.

Since all of those Japanese "Office Ladies" from Tokyo and Osaka seem to be the only ones waiting to have their picture taken with Duffy at DCA before they buy armloads worth of Duffy merchandise, it's probably okay that they get some great ticket prices and extra perks when they come to Disneyland for a few days.

Captain Shortty,

It says this in the unofficial guide and also on my welcome letter from the disneyland resort.

No mention of all hotel guests...just says that guests with 3 or more day park hoppers.

Kinda weird.

Thanks, everyone! It looks like I will be able to use the extra magic hour.
