Express Pass Question

Hi all.

I am going on a cruise next week, and one of our excursions from Port Canaveral is to Universal.

Being that I was not thinking logically AT ALL, it didn't occur to me that March is spring break month. Now that I've gotten around to realizing that, I'm thinking that an Express Pass may be in order. However, it is not part of our cruise excursion, so the question is, is it possible to add on the Express Pass either at the entrance to or within the park? We'd really like to avoid paying another $50 extra for tickets, but of course if we get there and all of the wait times are astronomical, it would make sense.

Also, while I'm at it, does anyone have opinions on how bad the spring break crowds will be next week? From my (very brief) research it does seem like there are less colleges out next week as compared to the rest of the month, but I have no idea if/how that will affect crowds.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Pretty sure you can add express even when youre already in the park. I'm no expert but I think I've seen signs for it.

Don't worry, they sell them everywhere.

( Advice: Don't buy them at the gate since you will end up waiting in line for 20 min, I would buy them inside the park where there is usually no wait)

Be aware that the price of Express Pass fluctuates tremendously with attendance. The days where you don't need it, it's a real bargain, but be prepared to shell out almost as much as a 1-day 1-park ticket for each express pass during busier periods.

Yes, I believe it's $50 a person extra the day we are going to be there, which is why I'd really like to avoid purchasing if at all possible. We shall see.

Thanks everyone for the help!

I just returned from my trip and purchased the Express Pass. We only had one day to do both parks, so I got the Express Pass for both parks. It was crucial to have in Island of Adventure but totally unnecessary at Universal Studios. If you are going to both parks, you really only need it for Islands of Adventure.

We just returned from UO as well. We got the park hopper and express pass and loved it. Got us out of the hot sun quicker and didn't waste time in lines. It also got us better seating at some of the stage shows!

Just got back beginning of march. We though we'd be early before the spring break crowd. Boy we were wrong. Got there at rope drop for Islands went straight to HP. Waited 45 mins, then went right to Dragon waited over an hour. By the this time every ride in the park had at least 45 min wait. Went to spiderman, waited an hour plus only for it to go down. By 1pm we rode a total of 4 rides. Felt we had no choice but to upgrade to express. 100$ later we were walking on every ride in the park. I hate the way express works, with no set times you see large groups go towards a ride and slowing standby by down to a stand still. They seem to take something like 9 express people to every 1 stand by when loading vehicles. At the end of the day the park was great but Express left a really sour taste in our mouths. However I fear it's hear to stay. Just look at us for instance we ponied up another 100$ at 1pm cause we felt we had no other choice in order to get value out of our ticket price.
