Express Pass at Christmas

Hello!
We are planning a visit to Orlando and after two times at Disney, are going to try Universal for 3 days this year. We plan to be there for New Year's and have booked a hotel onsite for January 1-2, which will give us fast passes for two days. Are fast passes necessary on these days? We have a place to stay in Orlando but booked the hotel to get the passes. Now I'm wondering if it's worth it.
Also, how busy is New Year's eve in Universal. We spent new year's two years ago in Epcot.
Thanks, Lisa

Dunno about it first hand, but reports and videos show Uni quite packed on New Years.

I certainly wouldn't attempt peak times at Uni without the unlimited Express Passes. Heck, even slower times, the benefit is worth it!

Even if it weren't an extremely busy time of year, the EP is a big perk. :) Christmas is a very busy time in the Orlando parks, though. Any advantage you have will be much appreciated.

The Uni hotels are nice, too. You won't be sorry you stayed there.

Unless you're leaving the Uni property, a car will just cost you money to park. You won't drive it because the Uni transportation is much faster than driving. It's pretty, too. :)

Thanks! Just looking for some reassurance that it's worth it! :)

Yes, doing the parks and I want to enjoy them not wait in line! Thanks.

I went to Islands of Adventure on Christmas Eve and the crowds were HORRIBLE. You will need an Express Pass.

Which hotel? Royal Pacific? Just curious to see if I could make other recommendations depending on the three. The hotel is very worth it and upon your return I await your review of what a real on site resort should be like.
