Expirations: am I worrying too much?

Hi everyone,

In 2013, while cleaning out my house getting ready to sell it, I came across 2 paper park hopper tickets in a Disney brochure/pocket folder reading "Celebrate the New Millennium".

We took a trip to WDW in January 2014 and stopped by Guest Relations at MK to see if there was anything left on it. The CM there came back after a minute and said "yes, there are two park hoppers and one water park ticket on each". I freaked out on the inside but anyways, she transferred them to the more modern card passes.

I've been holding onto them like gold since then. Because of widespread construction and loss of my favorite attractions, I've stayed away from WDW since late 2014 and have gone elsewhere. I wonder if I won't go back until maybe the 50th anniversary of MK in 2021. That's where I got worried about the new passes falling under expiration rules. I called Disney and told someone the story about my paper tickets getting transferred to more modern passes. She very sternly replied "your tickets were purchased before the cut off date for expiring tickets". I wasn't sure if the 1999 purchase was meant there or if it started over during that transfer in January 2014. She was very no-nonsense and told me they're fine though she dodged the question about when the passes were considered purchased. So am I being too tight about this or (unless expiration rules change between now and 2021) can I just sit on the passes until I'm ready? I definitely don't want to go, assuming I've got passes I don't have to pay for and find out they're no good (and with those ridiculous price hikes these days).

Check out the pocket folder. Notice one of the options for water parks was RC ;)

If the tickets were purchased as non-expiring, then they are still non-expiring. They are grandfathered in. You can no longer buy new ones that do not expire, but, those will be honored no matter how long you hang on to them. Not to worry, they are still good.

Ok yes the folder in the pictures say "never expire". I was just worried that once the CM at Guest Relations took my paper ticket and gave me an electronic card pass, it would be like buying one under 2014 regulations. But it should be ok then. Thanks for your answer!
