All accounts of the 25th seem to reference the "15 month celebration" that was announced on October 1st 1996.
So officially it would have ended on December 31, 1997.
Although it did take awhile to get Cinderella Castle back in proper attire.

25th Anniversary "Remember the Magic" Parade (October 1, 1996 - December 31, 1997): Became "Disney's Magical Moments Parade" when the 25th Anniversary Celebration ended. The first parade with show stops and first parade to shoot fireworks from a float.

Jan 31, 1998. Hubby and I got engaged the last day of the celebration while riding on Splash Mountain. :sohappy:
The next day, they started tearing down the castle and it looked horrible for the rest of the trip. But I was engaged, so I didn't care! :ROFLOL:
