Lots of photos from the press event for Everest. Of particular interest was the completed Steam Donkey. Incredible job WDI did of ageing the vehicles. Also a couple of great shots of the 80ft drop from head. Its going to be BIG! and remember, Its Not A Ride... Its a Story.

Enjoy :)

I guess from looking at these pictures they confirmed the rumors that it looks like it will be open this year since it has 2005/06. I would take that as a soft opening late this year with the grand opening early next year. I'm sure they are pushing to have it open for the holiday rush.

That refers to the Himalayas trip, not the ride. You can read about that at http://www.wdwmagic.com/everest_pressrelease.htm

2006 remains the official line on opening. :)

^^The 2005/06 reference is only for the upcoming real expedition to Everest that some of the Imagineers and a conservation group are taking starting in August. I don't believe that date on that one pic is referring to the ride. However, I'm still crossing my fingers too that they'll soft open this baby by the end of this year. As long as everything continues to go as smoothly as it has, it might just happen.

EDIT: Steve beat me to it :)

This may be the greatest addition to WDW in a very long time (I can see this blowing Space away).

It already blows Space away in terms of theming. I am really getting excited about this. Looks like the folks at WDI still got it!

That big drop out of the mountain looks awsome. I should be there mid to late November around the time of the fabled soft opening , I can only hope it feally happens. With all the space and theaming they have AK is really shapeing up to be an awsome park! Glad to see there finishing the park, now I can really spend a day there. :sohappy:

I think I'd get excited about this attraction if the queue was detailed a little better :lookaroun

I hope you are joking! They are going above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to the que area. Buildings are being designed by the team in Hapal and sent over for construction! The yeti is carved into the wood everywhere!

It's going to rock... The story that is... not the ride!
