Expedition Everest: Help!

Hi everyone!
This is my first forum post because I wanted to get help from the community. I have always had a problem with EE (Expedition Everest), and I have always avoided it. I am planning to go to Animal Kingdom next week to check out Pandora, and I feel pressured to ride EE from my family. The main issue I have with this ride is the outside drop, as I have always had a fear to drops on rollercoasters. I can ride Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Rock N' Rollercoaster but I will never do Tower of Terror or Splash Mountain again. I feel like I want to try EE but I'm a little wary about the drop since I hate that "feeling" you get in your stomach. I don't think that anything else in the ride will be a unpleasant for me since I LOVE loops ( I know there are not any loops in this ride), and the backwards portion doesn't seem that intense from what I've heard. Any help?

The drop is not horrible at all. It is not like the ones that slow down at the top and then roll you straight down. I guess it could compare a little to splash mountain, but you roll into a upward mini corkscrew right after the down part.

Ride in the front car. It give a better view, which you may not necessarily want. But by the time the rest of the train makes it over the crest, you'll already be halfway down the drop.

I'm terrified of dropping sensations, but EE is a fairly tame coaster (and MUCH milder than RNR in my opinion). I agree w/ the people in this thread who said that the drop is over and done with before you know it–unlike Splash Mountain, where the entire ride is building up to that drop, or ToT (which I've also avoided like the plague!) where the ride is essentially a drop tower. Apparently the drop is significantly higher up than Splash Mountain's, but I would also imagine it's nowhere near as steep. This is what the drop looks like, for context.

Ironically, I would say the best "air time" you get on EE is actually inside the cave when you go backwards and the coaster goes up very quickly.

And don't ride in the last car. You get the full impact of the drop and more of that "take stomach" feeling (and the rest of the ride will be a lot more intense). Nearer to the front, not so much. I'd say get a seat in the middle of the train.

I always ask for the last row.

Overall, it's a pretty fun ride. And don't let the "drop" scare you away. In fact, I'm not sure it's fair to even call it a "drop." It really is quite minimal, relatively speaking.

I am a huge, whimpy, wussy baby and don't really like roller coasters. The only reason I even did Space Mountain was because my husbadn really wanted to. EE was a lot of fun. I got heat stroke that day (and I also had a big greasy breakfast, which was a mistake in that heat), so it ended up being the only thing we did, before I had to leave. I'm glad I did it though, because it was a lot of fun and I'll definitely ride it again.

Oddly I feel the opposite. RnR is a very tame ride. One of the more tame inverted coasters I've been on.

I do agree with the idea to ride towards the front. The drop is much less if you do. The backwards portion is more intense than the first drop IMO as well
