What's the norm? We're doing Scuba and the Secret River and I want to be with minimal belongings in the pack as I usually pack it in case I ever have to submerge it....

I'd assume you'd tip more or less for certain excursions, but I could be wrong. Traveling in foreign countries I'm actually uncomfortable tipping as it's usually tacky, unless you're in a Mexican border town (or god forbid Cancun) or Canadian, but it's recommended so I assume they are expecting...

I don't want to say tipping on excursions is encouraged or expected but all but one I did had a jar or basket if you did want to leave one. They all announce that if you think they did a great job or went out of their way to make your experience enjoyable, this was the way to let them know. We had a two bus tours that we offered a nominal tip and our SNUBA team we gave a greater amount. SNUBA was an awesome experience and the team did an exceptional job on safety, comfort and excitement, so we obliged them with a good tip. It's not like restaurants or other services we are used to where the expectation is there, but these excursion companies do provide a service so it's your call....

How much did you leave? We're doing the single tank Scuba which I think is a comparable event.

I wanna say, $20 or $25. It was well worth what we paid for the excursion but they did a great job and we let them know. The boat captain said the next time they go out they would take us to better areas if we showed our "gratitude". I think we only had about that much on us at the time...
