Everyone knows about Gran Theft Auto: San Andreas, but look at this!

Ok, I'm sure by now everyone knows about the so called "Hot Coffee" cheat, what it does (family friendly forum so I will not discuss it), and that the ESRB rating was changed yesterday from M to AO (Adults Only 18+). Now get.THIS. The same lawyer dealing with the Gran Theft Auto case is out for money now, as he is unbelievably trying to out The Sims 2, saying it is WORSE than GTA. Read this article:

Miami attorney Jack Thompson claims cheat codes make EA's life sim a pedophile's paradise by showing genitalia; calls for ban on T-rated game.

How do you like your hot coffee? If you're Jack Thompson, you like it scalding game publisher's laps. The Miami attorney and antigaming activist has done his share to see that games don't fall into the wrong hands. And lately, those hands have belonged to almost everyone.

Thompson was among those who spearheaded the recent effort to slap an "Adults Only" rating on Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and he's often been on the forefront of many other gaming issues, several of which have targeted the crime-spree-based GTA franchise. In the past, he's represented defendants who have been the victims of GTA-inspired crimes, including the triple homicide of three police officers by an 18-year-old boy in Alabama.

His beef with San Andreas? Unused code in the game that depicts sexual acts. These minigames can be unlocked by using game-cheat devices or patches available on the Internet.

Thompson is on a roll...and he's not done yet. His latest goat is a game that doesn't involve guns, carjacking, or prostitutes: He's going after Electronic Arts' The Sims 2.

In a manifesto sent today to press outlets, Thompson focuses on dismantling the Entertainment Software Ratings Board and exposing what he calls the industry's "latest dirty little secret." The secret's out now, and it involves nude sims.

In the statement, Thompson says, "Sims 2, the latest version of the Sims video game franchise ... contains, according to video game news sites, full frontal nudity, including nipples, es, , and pubic hair."

The Sims 2 is a "life simulator." In the game, players steer their digital beings around their cyberlives. Actions include everything from the spectacular (getting married, having children, receiving promotions at work) to the mundane (cooking microwaved meals, going to the bathroom, mopping the floor). Such activities, as in real life, sometimes require nudity. EA circumvents inappropriateness by "blurring" out the nether regions, almost to a comical sense.

Knowing that the game is popular among all ages, EA has even taken steps to ensure that Sims fans aren't exposed to indecent depictions. In the recent expansion pack, The Sims 2 University, gamers can send their teenage sims off to college. However, instead of packing the expansion with "keggers" and "reefer," EA chose to use juice and bubble blowers.

Thompson doesn't seem to care. He cites a cheat code that can remove the blur that covers the nether regions. "The nudity placed there by the publisher/maker, Electronic Arts, is accessed by the use of a simple code that removes what is called 'the blur' which obscures the genital areas. In other words, the game was released to the public by the manufacturer knowing that the full frontal nudity was resident on the game and would be accessed by use of a simple code widely provided on the Internet."

It's not just the adults that are liberated from their wardrobes. Sims kids can also be nudified, "much to the delight, one can be sure, of pedophiles around the globe who can rehearse, in virtual reality, for their abuse."

Were this to be true, Thompson would have his smoking gun, and EA would be forced to recall all copies of The Sims 2. However, it's what's under the blur that Thompson's after. And what happens when the blur is lifted? A simple mannequin-esque smooth body, according to EA.

Jeff Brown, vice president of corporate communications at EA, in response to the accusations, told GameSpot, "This is nonsense. We've reviewed 100 percent of the content. There is no content inappropriate for a teen audience. Players never see a nude sim. If someone with an extreme amount of expertise and time were to remove the pixels, they would see that the sims have no genitals. They appear like Ken and Barbie."

Thompson doesn't buy it. "The ______ and the nudity are in the game. That's the point. The blur is an admission that even the 'Ken and Barbie' features should not be displayed. The blur can be disarmed. This is no different than what is in San Andreas, although worse."

The last time we checked, The Sims 2 was rated T for Teen by the ESRB, which means that anyone 13 years of age, with $50 to spend, can purchase the game.

Now is that not the biggest and most obvious attempt at trying to become famous and make money that you have ever seen?!

Oh Jack Thompson, you sad little man you. This guy needs to grow up and get a life, seriously. Whats next? Accusing Sonic and Mario games about something? Mario teaches you to eat mushrooms and kill turtles while Sonic teaches you to disobey the speed limit and take rings!! We have to ban these games and burn them! Forever!!!!! I wonder if he ever even plays half the games he accuses of something...

It has the 'T' rating for a reason. And yes, there is a blur and it is removable by a certain cheat code. I've seen what happens when you remove it and they do look like Ken and Barbie dolls. The Sims 2 exchange monitors what kind of hacked created items are placed on there as well. If anything inappropriate has been placed there(see through outfits that have shading in the areas that might be considered inappropriate, for example) then it gets reported quickly and will be removed. Nothing in that game is nearly as bad as anything in GTA. Characters can't even WooHoo, as its known, until at least College, so you can't end up with Teen pregnancies, which is good. This guy really needs to get a life. Either that, or he needs to be placed in one of those chairs from "A Clockwork Orange" and shown footage of video games until he has no malice toward them. ;)

Sadly he doesnt work alone. Like most things in this country, there are political motives...and who is fighting on his side? Hillary Clinton.

As for the "hot coffee" mod for GTA:SA...lets just say this..you cant simply enter in a code, or accidently stumble on it..you have to REALLY go out of your way to mod the game to unlock the feature. Rockstar made a mistake by not removing the code entirely (the mini-game WAS originally going to be included but they "hid" the code after realizing the outlast they would get), and basically..they are getting punished because someone else's hacking of the game.

From a gamers prespective..you know how stupid this all is. I would be hard pressed to find ANY game out there that doesnt have SOME hidden code in it (since games essentially have rushed deadlines..they kinda just hide away parts they didnt finish developing)...regardless of its content...a company shouldnt be slapped down for something they actually TRIED to prevent. But..well..what would the all american family friendly politicians who are so anxious to get votes do without something to point a finger at. Cuz ya know...______ in a video game..wow..thats some serious problems right there! I can just imagine what will happen next! There are far worse things out there in games that ARENT hidden but dont get any attention, but since GTA is already contriversial..it made it a prime target.

also..remember...Jack Thompson is also the guy who says that columbine was caused by those kids playing "doom" on their computers. It helped them train for the assaults.

...yeah...now you see where this guy is coming from...thankfully he's getting pretty old. check out his site here http://www.stopkill.com/

I guess nobody knows that mods change the game from the way the creators wanted it to be played. Don't blame the manufacture of the game but the people who mod the game. Jack Thompson and hillary Clinton should be worry about more important topics than video games. :fork:

as a player of sims 2, there is no cheat code to remove the blur. only a mod that has to be downloaded. EA supports no adult material. a few months ago they were going to allow sims sites (for the first seris) to be hosted for free as long as there were no adult material. any adult material and it wouldn't be allowed.

this moron of an attorny knows nothing about sims 2. it's obvious by his statements. and i wouldn't recommend anyone sending him an e-mail at all. even if it's logically thought out, neutral, and thought provoking. he tends to insult and degrade people who aren't on his side.

some lawyer huh?

Isn't it much easier for a kid to jump on-line and access "real people" for free? Maybe they should try doing something about that?

Bite your tongue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lookaroun.......

Bottom line is, young kids shouldn't be playing this game anyway. Simple as that. And yes, Hillary should be doing more important things!

There is in fact a cheat code that removes the blur, but underneath this, there is nothing little Sally hasn't seen on a Barbie doll.

Don't ask how I know this.

Or even something that little Bobby hasn't seen or won't ever see. Most of GTA's target audience knows what a naked woman looks like. I've seen plenty, its not a bad thing. Quite the contrary actually.

(Me ranting to an imaginary person) If your kid is looking up these codes, maybe you should have a discussion with your child. Why are we even having this conversation??? If you were a decent parent, your child would not be playing GTA.

The USA needs more games that have NORMAL ______ or nudity in them then violence. Which would you rather have your child see? A nipple or a guy getting his head blown off?

You have to realize...in the eyes of the politicians..we (gamers) are already brainwashed so therefore anything we have to say (valid or not...intelligent or not) doesnt matter. We are no longer allowed to have opinions...since in their minds...we are doomed to be forever biased since the evil video games have warped our perception of the issue at hand.

I emailed Mr. Thompson last night. I was trying to warn him about another game that could have horrible effects on tons of people (Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing). Imagine how excited I was when I opened my e-mail this morning to see a reply from him. The only thing is that it was his response to someone else's email. How can anyone feel that this man is competent enough on the subject to be involved with anything related to computer games, when he cannot even manage to reply to an email without sending it to the wrong person?

I have a hard time understanding why you are defending these game makers. They didn't try to "hide" anything! They put the scenes in to begin with and then added a key to unlock them. If they didn't want scenes showing up, then they should not have added them to the games. End of story...

As far as the blur... just leave out those scenes. Why would anyone want to watch a cartoon go to the bathroom? :veryconfu

actualllllllllly...

in the case of GTA - they put them in..yes..then realized how inappropriate it was so they literally LOCKED IT OUT..no code could unlock it..it wasnt even TALKED about. They didnt delete the code...yes..but on the same note...it wasnt like they WANTED it to be discovered. It was in fact unlocked by someone HACKING the game essentially.

I defend the game makers because GTA is a video game for ADULTS(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) not little kids. It is rated Mature for a reason. If an adult wants to watch this controversial skit, I say let them. It is their right as an adult. It is also up to the parents to be parents when it comes to kids buying or the parents themselves buying video games for their kids. END OF STORY...

And as for people wanting to see a cartoon go to the bathroom... you would be surprised at how many sick __ual fetishes there are out there! Some people like to see cartoons, some like to see midgets, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
