The best it's going to get is probobly soft openings in December. We'll know more as time goes on, probobly in a couple months an official opening date will be set, but I would bank on Aprill 22.

I agree that the 4/22/06 date (DAK's 8th b-day) will be the OFFICIAL opening date. Now, that gives them one year to finish work. Something tells me a holiday 2005 sneek peek may not be outta the question. We can hope right?......

Hmmm....I'd think they'd want to open it in time for the beginning of Peak Season which I think if I'm not mistaken is in March.....The sooner the better!! :)

I'm sure they'll be doing soft openings at that time. If you use that logic, wouldn't you think they would've wanted to open Soarin' and LMA during Spring Break? All they were able to do was some soft openings. They may be able to open Everest in March, but the truth is we aren't going to know anything for a while because of how big this project is.

That's a good point but wasn't Soarin' and LMA on track while the reports of EE are that its ahead of schedule. Either way I can't wait!

If I remember correctly we had reports of Soarin' being ahead of schedule, and I believe they recently(before CM previews and AP previews this weekend) were having some difficulties with it, not really sure though. But yea, I can't wait either, I think my excitement for EE surpasses that of Mission: Space and Top Thrill Dragster(Cedar Point).

I know this question has been beaten to death, but does anyone know if there is any possible chance of soft openings/previews in mid November? December was mentioned, so I thought I'd take a chance and ask. I'm looking at the possibility of a shortened trip in November, in an effort to save more money to afford my DLR trip. If that ends up the case, then I'll have to plan to not make it to DAK. I hate to do that, but may not have a choice. I'd not be a happy camper if EE ended up having previews and I didn't have time for DAK! So, yeah, that's my reason for asking.

Everest going to reach 70mph?

While I was at Disney/MGM Studio today, they announced some of the upcoming movies and park attractions to Disney was working on over the next year at the end of the backstage tour tram ride. When the announcer came to the Everest ride at Animal Kingdom they mentioned that the ride would be traveling foward and backward to meet the yeti at speeds up to 70mph. That would mean it will beat out Test Track as the fastest Disney Attraction. Anyone else on this topic?

Everest has been classified as a "family coaster" and more tame than Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. I've heard 50 or 55 mph as it's top speed, never 70.

The latest top speed I've heard from Disney is 55 mph (on their Happiest Celebration on Earth page).

I would bet on April 22nd of next year with a soft opening schedule possibly similar to Kali's...which I rode Presidents week of 1999. November of this year seems to be pushing it...

I agree. I didn't/don't think its likely, but was just curious how far ahead of schedule they are. It would suck to have to miss EE because of time constraints vs. it just not being open yet. I hate only having time to go to 3 of the parks, but I guess it will be worth it when I go to DLR. Beggers can't be choosers.
