Im a little anxious to book our hotel for October 26th for my birthday. The only reason we are waiting until the week after next (the week of September 16th) is because thats when our paychecks come in lol I always get nervous about waiting because I just want the feeling of having our room booked.

Has anyone ever done this and they had no availibity preferably in the value resorts during the time frame of October 26th-28th?

If you are doing a room only reservation only the first night's amount is due as a deposit. The rest won't be due until check in. Different rules than a full package, which you require you to pay the full amount at the 45-day mark

The only time we have seen no rooms available was when we made a spontaneous trip last May. We were in the car driving and we called to see if they had any AP-rate rooms available. They didn't have any AP rooms, but still had lots of regular rooms. I wouldn't worry too much about the end of October, you should be fine.

Yes I have. We were going in early November on a very spontanous trip, which I have done a half dozen times.
There were only the highest of the high deluxe rooms available. The kind where a one night stay was more than I pay for an entire trip high. We wound up staying in DTD at the Hilton. All was well.

And on the flipside, I booked POR for my son last fall the day before. Not a problem. I'd look on the calendar of events and see if there is anything like a golf tourney or other special events happening during those days.

I've had them booked up, but usually in the summer. One time, Disney said the Poly was booked, but I got a room there through Expedia.

One time, they said there were no rooms, but the day I arrived, I called after landing, while I was driving in, and a room was available. So if you don't get what you want, keep checking. :)

I am booked Oct 17-25th. If I put those dates in now the only thing available is the cabins at fort wilderness and a couple of expensive deluxe rooms. You are going at a pretty busy weekend with the food and wine fest and close to halloween. I would book if there is something available. If you get room only then you pay 1 night deposit and do not have to pay the rest untill you check in.
