Evening Extra Magic Hours

I have read that you can pick up wristbands for the evening Extra Magic Hours 2 hours before the normal park closing time. How late can you pick up the wristbands? Do you have to be in the park before closing?

You can still come in the park after in closes upon presenting proper hotel cards, up to the time that EMH closes
