ESPN Makes Overture for Rome’s TV Word

(Hollywood Reporter) -- Is Jim Rome headed back to ESPN? Sources close to the host of Fox Sports Net's "The Last Word" say the outspoken sports talk show host has received overtures from FSN's rival. Both ESPN and Rome's reps at CAA declined comment, but he has already indicated that he will leave his FSN show once his contract expires later this year to devote more time to his nationally syndicated radio show, which is carried on more than 180 stations. Given his hectic schedule, other sources close to Rome say they would be surprised if he agrees to commit to a daily TV show. Sources also say that Fox Sports is not particularly upset over losing Rome, now that most of the regional sports cabler's energy and resources are being poured into the flagship primetime program, "The Best Damn Sports Show Period."
