I was wondering about the contract for flying tinkerbell, and the strength requirements. Do I need to be a gymnast? And how often do they have auditions for this role?
Thanks

That I know of there are special requirements for this role but couldn't tell you the specifics. You have to be very comfortable in a harness and not be scared of heights. It isn't the average tinkerbell in the parks for sure.

edit: Disney has a special contract with AEA so minimum pay is 500 a week for entertainment and I don't think they have auditions on the same schedule for character actors as they do stage actors in the shows. However I don't think character actors fit under the contract. I think it is just those involved in shows that happen all day like Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, etc.

The best place to find accurate information is:

There are definitely very specific height and weight requirements for that position. I know the weight can only fluctuate by a couple of pounds because of the physics involved. I am pretty sure that it isn't a role you can audition for since I believe it is in pretty high demand and they just hire from within.

Does anyone know about the strength? And if I need to be a gymnast? I know you don't have to be a stunt person but I know flexibility is involved. It is pretty hard to find people who fit the requirements, so are you sure they hire from within? Anything is helpful. Thank you

When they cast a Tink they think about these things. So they technically have the audition at the same time they are auditioning for Tink. They look for the girls who fit the meet and great and parade requirements then if they see anyone who fits the other requirements they look at those for flying Tink. Disney always makes sure there is someone who fits the bill they need who is considered an "extra". This means although they may have say 3 flying Tinks on staff paper wise there would be a 4th regular park Tink who also fits the bill for the flying Tink but isn't officially a flying Tink.

For safety reasons you probably have to be easily able to support your own weight. There is some movement involved on the line such as waving. Tink also must have a straight line so no necessarily gymnastics is required but dance and or theater training is a plus. Basically you need to look like Tink's most noticeable poses on the wire and need to have the body strength to pull those off in the air while moving.

Thank you so much!! That's so helpful! Where do you get your information?!?

The information I gave wasn't "fact" but it is good business practice. I also know they hire with in because a friend of mine who is a CM continues to apply for entertainment jobs even though he is a character attendant.

Also the link I put in my first reply is for the information on casting of different jobs. If you look there you can see there is never a post of "flying Tinkerbell" but there are posts saying they are always looking for face character look-a-likes. The information about the different contracts are there as well.

I just figured what Tink has to do based on what I have seen in the parks.

This makes sense because I have emailed Disney about the job before and they said that they weren't holding auditions and didn't plan on doing so in the future. My brother is also going to start his college internship down there next semester so I can see what other info he can get. Thank you so much for your information! It is really helpful!
