Epcot Resorts

We are planning trip in May 2003 and wanting to stay at an Epcot resort, considering studio at Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas. Has anyone stayed at either of these and which would you prefer? We will be traveling with two children (10 and 12). We are interested in renting DVC points, what is the best way to do this? Would this be a better rate over AP and FL resident discounts? I've stayed at all the moderate hotels before and love POR. Are the deluxe resorts worth the extra money?? I'm new to this post so any help would be appreciated.

Beach Club YEZ!

I've been to WDW about a douzen times and I've stayed at almost everywhere. The only VC location though was at the wilderness lodge [which was a huge set of rooms]. The stay at the beach club though was prob the best experiance by far. Well, mostly because of the amazing pool that I spent all day at for a couple days. If you are going to spend a lot of time in the parks and not around the hotel, then it won't matter so much I guess. All the VC locations should be very impressive, it's more a matter of what kind of atmosphere you are into.
Boardwalk has a more carnival / Atlantic-City atmosphere, where as Y&B has more of a classy island retreat (with an incredible pool! :- )
Boardwalk has a game-room right near the pool, so your kids might enjoy that. Though they'll have to swim in that li'l water-hole and only get to walk by the giant sand-bottomed beauty across the lake.

I'm just all about the styling of that pool. Tee heh Guess I'm just
22 going on 10.

Our favorite place to stay with DVC is the Boardwalk. There's plenty to do. Since Beach club is in the same area the location to epcot is pretty much equal. Same goes for boat access to Epcot and MGM. ESPN club has great food!

The Boardwalk just has more "bustle", especially at night with all the lights on!

Regardless of resort , try and get a Boardwalk view.

As for comparing to FL resident discount , I don't know.

I think Beach Club vs Boardwalk is probably a draw, although friends of ours who take their children every year (the oldest is now 14, the youngest now 8) swear by the Beach Club. I've heard renting points can be risky since it is an act of faith that the points are valid.... try www.mousesavers.com for specifics on planning a vacation on a budget.

And please note that the Boardwalk is themed like the Atlantic City of yesteryear--not today! Yikes! ;)
