Epcot or AK?

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
The reason why we want to do DHS is all my kids want to ride Rockin Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror and Star Tours.

Since the kids seem to be more into the thrills, I'd go to Animal Kingdom. EPCOT can be pretty boring for those that want thrill and high-energy attractions. A comparison-

EPCOT-
Test Track
Mission: Space
Soarin' (?)

Animal Kingdom-
Avatar: Flight of Passage
Dinosaur
Expedition Everest
Kali River Rapids
Primeval Whirl

Followed by other fun experiences like Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo the Musical, and obviously the Safaris.

I personally wouldn't knock out Hollywood Studios. When I was 12, I only wanted to go to Hollywood Studios. Purely to ride the same rides your kids listed. EPCOT may have more to do, but it definitely won't be as fun for the kids at that particular age. Thats the age you want to go on the big thrill rides so that you can feel like a big kid. I remember those days very well. Hollywood Studios WON'T be a full day park though. I will say. HOWEVER, you can use the most of your time there if you watch all of the shows.

Star Tours
Toy Story Mania (Is actually a LOT of fun)
Tower of Terror
Rockin' Roller Coaster
Muppet*Vision 3D

Then you have the shows which are all very good shows and can eat up time--

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Beauty and the Beast
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Frozen Sing Along (This show is shockingly really good. I swear.)

If they like star wars, hang out a bit in Star Wars Launch Bay. See the characters in there. The ones they have in there are really fun to interact with.

My advice is to go to Hollywood Studios at about around mid-afternoon instead of at park opening. Maybe go swimming in the morning. Then the whole family can end the night with Fantasmic! Which is definitely the 2nd best nighttime spectacular right behind MK's.

A lot of people on here will yell and scream to go to EPCOT because 1). It IS a full day park (But most of that full day comes from endless walking), 2). They've seen the shows at HS a BILLION times, but it seems like it would be your childrens' first experience seeing these shows. 3). EPCOT is great and all for the odd child that likes travel advertisements, walking, and slow moving educational dark rides. But it seems like your kids want the thrills. So I say go for Hollywood Studios.

Animal Kingdom definitely overrules EPCOT as well. Again, more thrills. But also, theres a lot more fun things to do at AK. A lot more options and variety. Avatarland is ALSO a MUST SEE (Coming from someone who has never cared for the movie).

Those are my two cents. I'm 19. I remember being 12/13 very well. HS is DEFINITELY not my favorite park today and I personally would choose Epcot over it now. But back at that age, I would most absolutely rather go to Hollywood Studios than Epcot.

Well, there you go. In that case, I'd go with AK. You can do that park in a day. With Epcot you can't. The only reason I'd pick Epcot over AK is if you really, really, really want to experience some of the Flower and Garden Festival. Otherwise, stick with AK.

We are heading to Disney in April and we have kids 14, 13 and 10. We are going to do a 3 day pass with no park hopper (trying to cut costs). Our plan is to do MK (the day there is extra hours), Hollywood Studios and trying to decide between Epcot or AK for the 3rd day.

Thoughts? We haven't been to Disney in 10 years so lots have changed for sure.
Since Hollywood Studios has several shows, you may want to do it toward the end of your trip.
Your legs and feet may be sore from walking and standing in line during the previous days.
Some of the theaters are air-conditioned which may be useful when it is raining (or if it is hot).
If you are tired, you may be able to catch a quick nap in one of those theaters (just don't snore).

A few rides they might enjoy:
  • Toy Story Mania
  • Rock n Roller Coaster
  • Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
  • Star Tours
Air-conditioned theaters:
  • For the First time in Forever: Frozen Sing-Along (this is good even if you don't like Frozen)
  • Muppet Vision 3D
  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid
  • Disney Junior Live
  • Star Wars Path of the Jedi (or something else in the theater - good for a nap)
Outdoor theaters:
  • Indiana Jones Epic Stun Spectacular
  • Beauty and the Beast Live
  • Fantasmic (night show)
