Epcot Flower/Garden Fest. Character Weekend Question

Hi - I've read about the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival having several themed weekend throughout it, one being called "Characters in Bloom". The descriptions all read "see characters springing up all over the park" (or something like that). Does anyone know if this means actual characters, or characters as in topiaries???? I love meeting the rarer characters and would definately go if this were more of a possibility at this time, but no one at Disney seems to be able to answer me - I just got back yesterday and asked at several hotel concierges as well as directly at Epcot. :brick:
If anyone who's been to it in the past can share some details, that would be great! I'm really anxious to find out exactly what goes on for this weekend!!
Thanks!

I thought it was topiaries, too. We have been the past few years and have really not seen any different characters out--but there are topiaries all over. Wish I could give you a better answer!

I took it to mean topiaries. I saw some great ones in photos last year, I think it was DMC12's album.

Same here.

i love going for the Flower and Garden Show. There are character topiaries all over the place. This year, the theme is Pirates and Princess and I read that there will be one of a pirate ship!

I think they are refering to the topairies. Some examples I have seen in the past years: Pooh, Tigger, Eyeore, Piglet in the UK. Bambi, Thumper, Flower in Canada. Panda bears and a dragon in China. Belle and the Beast, Tinkerbell, a scene from Lion King with baby Simba and Rafiki, Mickey, Minnie, Lilo and Stitch. They are all pretty incredible to see!

Either way, there's gonna be both. There's gonna be Topiaries of the characters, and other characters there for Meet and Greets that you wouldn't normally see there. Like Drew said, One weekend they had the Fantasia characters (Mlle. Upanova-Ostrich and Hyacinth Hippos), One week it was "I dig bugs" and they had Flik, Atta and Francis (The Ladybug). Other random Characters like Buzz Lightyear can be found over at the American Adventure. But, that was last year, and characters are always subject to change :D

that description sounds like topiaries but if other posters are reporting rare character sightings, then i suppose it means both:sohappy:

I would love to see real characters from Fantasia. I vote for fairies, mushrooms, and fishies.

I've never seen Hyacinth Hippo or Madame Ostrich out as characters and I've been going to F&G every year since 2003.

They were out last year but only for that specific weekend. The Fantasia Mushrooms were in Disneyland's Parade of Stars but that ended in late 2004
