Sorry for the long post, I just don't want to say "Oh durr durr just Soarin' and Test Track" because it's more complicated than that. (Hope this isn't just review)
Epcot is divided into two sections, Future World and World Showcase.
Future World represents science and technology, and in World Showcase you can travel parts of the world without leaving Florida.
These aren't like the lands at Magic Kingdom, they have areas called pavilions which house all of the attractions.
Future World's pavilions are:
- Spaceship Earth, most people say it looks like a giant golf ball.
- Innoventions, has exhibits, but Sum of All Thrills is the one you want to do early on in the day, unless you like 40 minute lines. Doesn't have FP+, though.
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends
- The Land
- Imagination!
- Ellen's Energy Adventure - An adventure about energy, starring Ellen DeGeneres.
- Mission: SPACE
- Test Track
World Showcase's pavilions are:
- Mexico
- Norway
- China
- Germany
- Italy
- The American Adventure
- Japan
- Morocco
- France
- United Kingdom
- Canada
The rides that get the longest lines at Epcot are the three thrill rides, Test Track, Sum of All Thrills (Doesn't have FP+), and Mission: SPACE, and the gentle simulator, Soarin'. Character Spot also gets long lines, but if you aren't into Mickey and his friends you won't be interested.
So yeah, you can reserve attraction times up to 60 days in advance in this new FP+ system.
But the twist is that Epcot's attractions are grouped into "tiers". This means that you can only get 1 attraction from Tier 1 and 2 attractions from Tier 2.
Tier 1
- Soarin' - Located in The Land pavilion, this is a simulator where you can hang glide through California.
- Test Track - This is a fast ride through a futuristic automobile test facility.
- Epcot Character Spot - Located in Innoventions plaza, you can meet Mickey and his friends.
- IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth Seating - A special place for Epcot's fireworks show. Better than all other fireworks shows you'll ever see in your lifetime.
- Maelstrom - Located in the Norway pavilion, this is a ride about Norway. Not really much more I can say. If you likes Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom, you might like this one.
Tier 2
- Mission: SPACE - A simulator where you take a rocket ship ride to Mars. Is divided into Green and Orange. Green is more gentle than Orange.
- Spaceship Earth - A ride through communication throughout the ages.
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends - Before you get into the pavilion, you've got to do the ride of the same name. It just follows the story of the Finding Nemo movie.
- Turtle Talk with Crush - A talking turtle interacts with audiences. Seriously.
- Captain EO - Located in the Imagination! pavilion, this is a futuristic 3D movie starring Michael Jackson.
- Living with the Land - Located in The Land pavilion (what else?), this is a boat ride through growing plants and fish.
- Journey Into Imagination with Figment - Located in the Imagination! pavilion (what else?), you can see see how imagination happens.
So no, you can't do Soarin' and Test Track on the same day like others have been suggesting.
What I recommend is doing Epcot for two days if you have enough time. This means 6 FastPasses.
And this is my recommended touring plan (agenda, checklist, whatever):
Day 1
- You've got to be at the ticket booths before Epcot's hours begin.
- Be sure to pick up a park map and times guide at Guest Relations.
- Soarin'. This is the first thing you need to do on this day. DONT GO TO SPACESHIP EARTH JUST RUSH TO THE LAND PAVILION AND DO SOARIN'!!!!!!
- Living with the Land, also located in the pavilion.
- Ride The Seas with Nemo & Friends's ride
- Look around the pavilion and see Turtle Talk with Crush
- Ride Soarin' again with a FP+ reservation of 10:30-11:30
- Have lunch at Sunshine Seasons in the same pavilion
- Do whatever you'd like
Day 2
- Again, be at the ticket booths before Epcot opens.
- Be sure to pick up a park map and times guide at Guest Relations.
- RUSH TO TEST TRACK NOW!
- Ride Sum of All Thrills in the East side of Innoventions.
- Ride Mission: SPACE
- Ride Test Track again with a FP+ reservation of 10:00-11:00
- Do whatever you'd like
This might just have been the longest post ever.
