Engagement

I didn't get engaged at Disney World but I think the idea is great and very romantic. I've always had dreams of getting engaged during Illuminations while the fireworks are all going off right after.

I must agree....that is very sweet and romantic. I have always wanted to get engaged at WDW because it is my most favorite place on earth!!!! Just think of all the great memories you would have proposing at WDW.

I proposed at MK in January - we're getting married this Sept. and are going back to WDW for our honeymoon :)

I ended up proposing at MK after the park closed and everyone was walking out. The castle was lit up, it was dark out, and pretty much everyone had left except us. Very romantic.

Good luck! :animwink:

You could take a boat out into the lagoon during the fireworks. I think you can rent private charters. Then you would be more alone. Or..if you didn't mind being around a group of people you could even go on a ride like the jungle cruise and get the CM who does the narration in on it. Work it into the plot of the story line. I don't know if they would do this but it would be totally a surprise. Disney is such a magical place to get engaged. Best of luck and many years of happiness to you both! :)

Thanks for everyones input. I just booked an engagement package in the rose garden during the fireworks. There is a couch under the canopy where the swan boats use to be with roses, glass slipper.

If you want to do something nice go to the princess breakfast in Cinderella's Castle. When you make your reservation tell them you plan on proposing there. They will make sure that the princesses are around you to make this extra special.

Big Al,

Congratulations in advance on the engagement! Who did you book the engagement package through, and if you don't mind me asking what's the cost? Been married for 17 years now, but might book the site for a "re-engagement" in October.

PS did you get down to any of the bball games last weekend?

That sounds so romantic!!!

I dropped hint after hint after hint for my now husband to propose in Disney World....he never "got it". That was one of my dreams as a little girl, to get engaged at the Magic Kingdom in front of the castle. Told that right to him

I love the idea of a "re-engagement", that is so sweet! If it works, can you email my hubby and tell him about it? Just kidding!

Best of luck to you, Big Al! Let us now how it goes. :)

I got engaged there on December of last year. they are really helpful and they can keep a secret. I was starting to worry they had forgotten. I live in Canada and for 3 months worked on it with a lady at Disney engagements. We had dinner in the castle and after they brought out a glass slipper on a pillow and I did it right there. Right after dinner there were fireworks outside (a coincidence I think) and then we went to Epcot and the French pavilion for some over priced champagne. It is truly magical at Walt Disney World.

Howdy everyone,

Once when we were at disney 99 i think, just before the firworks this guy CM took this guy and his gal up to the stage in front on the castle where everyone could see. He left them to it and he got down on one knee....all of the crowd went AAAAA, and then really quiet..which is quite a feat with so many people and then i didnt hear her say yes but she nodded and eveyone started whistling and clapping and whooping...it was reallly great...and the cm let them stay up there for the fireworks...aaaaaa how romantic...
I guess u have to be pretty sure shes gonna say yes tho...cos that could be reeeeaaalllly embarresing in fron of all those people.....

Glad to see it worked for you, congrats! That's exactly what I plan to do, if I ever actually get to go this January. I guess that's pretty much standard procedure for whoever wants to get engaged at MK! But if I don't get to go, then I'll try to work something in my house anyway, like pausing the fireworks on my dad's big screen or something... :hammer:

By the way, congrats, BigAl, those engagement packs really look great! :sohappy:

I got engaged in Disneyland in December- which was great becuase there was the christmas decorations and the fireworks that had snow. The things that made it really memorable to this day were- 1. the dinner we had at the Blue Bayou, I always wanted to eat there but never did and he took me, which was amazing because I didn't know it was going to happen. 2. We watch the first set of fireworks right under the snow and then 3. He proposed during the second set of fireworks on the bridge of the castle. 4. He wrote out the words to a song that was very important to us and gave me a dried thistle that I had given him a couple years back (pulling a braveheart).

Things that could have been different: He wanted it a total surprise so his excuse to get me to stay on the bridge was to look at the swans- which didn't happen to be there. The other thing was I dropped the ring- and being on a bridge next to water--well catastrophe diverted. We left the thistle in our hotel and last we didn't really have a camera- we bought one there but it would have been better with some good quality photos- however an asian couple did take a picture of us because they thought we were so cute- even though it was with their camer

An engament at WDW has to be the most romantic thing I can think of! I like the idea of waiting until the park is quiet after closing - the lights are on the castle, the lights in the trees are twinkling, and it's so peaceful...the perfect setting.

Of course, if you're REAL sure the answer is going to be yes, proposing on Main Street or on the castle steps would be a hoot, too - be sure to clue in as many Disney employees as you can in advance without being too obvious.:D

Congratulations to you both (let us know!!!):sohappy:

Maria, Thanks to the quick reflexes of my future husband we didn't lose the ring, and to let you know I never noticed how tightly built the bridge is, thank goodness. And the peopl who took our picture didn't really ever talk to us, they just walked up took a picture, nodded happily and walked away.....they seemed like they were foriegn and maybe thought we were an attraction or something. He got on one knee and the couple got all excited and ran over.

David, I think a re-engagement is wonderful. My parents have been married 27 years and they honeymooned in Disneyland, My Dad and I are trying to get together a honeymoon package for them to go to DW for their 30th (a surprise to my mom). I think a re-engagement would be wonderful....My dad and I were thinking renewing their vows, but they have already been married 3 times so I think he would be pushing it.
