Enchant Magic Key

I see the Enchant Magic Key available to purchase. However I am thinking to hold off until next month. I would prefer to have Believe or Inspire level (Especially the Inspire key). Those highest Tier are not available at the moment.

I live far. I see the blockout calendar dates. I am not impressed I can’t get access to summer, not much access around Christmas under the lower tier keys. Sometime I think I should hold off until one of the highest tier becomes available to purchase. Or get the Enchant and upgrade later when one of the higher tier becomes available?

I have Enchant Keys. I was thinking about upgrading to Believe a couple weeks ago before they sold out. For the same reasons, aggressive holiday blackouts and being blacked out all summer. That’s a long two months when the kids are off school so it would be nice having access especially during an anniversary year. As far as the Christmas blackouts you do have one Sunday. So that plus taking a weekday (or 2) off is enough for us. We only go about 1-2 times a month. The upgrade would have mostly been for summertime but we did fine last year and just visited other local So Cal destinations. What I will not do is be suckered into any three day tickets for the same price I could have upgraded to Believe Keys. I would buy a few cheap USH annual passes before I do that since it’s so close us.

What makes you think Magic Keys will go on sale again next month? They “typically” go on sale January and or March (this year they sold January - March) and then maybe again in November. Selling passes again next month or before summer would be somewhat atypical but we don’t have a huge sample size. I believe one year they may have sold them in September too.

To be honest, I don’t know how Disney sales their magic keys in Disneyland. But it makes sense it March now offering only the Enchant.

MK’s are unlikely to go back on sale until after Halloween based on years past. Got to remember that are large amount of MK holders who bought in after Covid bought theirs in the late summer, Disney does not know how many are going to renew and they are likely at their “optimal” MK number at the moment, particularly with a anniversary summer and the always packed Halloween Time on the horizon. If you want a key before November I highly suggest you buy one now, sometimes Keys won’t go back on sale until January.

I also think another reason they don’t sell them before Summer is they want to sucker as many lower tier MK’s as possible into buying 3 day summer tickets.

I wouldn’t mind buying the multi day pass. But I HATE how I have 13 days after I use the first day of the ticket activation. I would like a 1-2 month period to come back and use the leftover unused days.

It’s a good deal if you don’t have Magic Keys. It’s dumb when you’re spending same amount on 3 days as you would have on upgrading from an Enchant to Believe Key which opens up so many more days (including more weekends) all year long.

Isn’t the summer starting to become lower crowd times ? I know it is in Florida , mostly because of the insanely hot weather. If so surprised they block out many of the Keys. Thinking about a trip there is late July from the east coast , would prob do 4 days in parks and 2-3 doing other SoCal day trips to San Diego , etc

Summers have become low crowds in a large part because they block out passholders. Not exactly sure when it became the norm. I know they blacked out a lot of passes when GE opened thinking the park was going to be packed. Seems like they haven’t adjusted since. Instead they kind of just made summer the new offseason to work on refurbs and try to entice blacked out passholders with 3 day tickets. This year there will be no major refurbs due to the 70th. I’m not sure I’d necessarily expect low crowds but it’s hard to go wrong when you have 1/2 of the passholders blacked out. That’s a lot of day tickets they need to sell to make up the difference. I’m thinking they might be overestimating the demand from the normies for the 70th on the heels of Disney 100. Especially with no new attractions opening up. Not only is “100” a bigger deal but MMRR and Wondrous Journeys were brand new. PTN is the biggest draw for the 70th. Don’t think the normies care about the Walt show.

Thanks that is encouraging— literally everything should be operating (no refurbs) except for Lincoln and now defunct streetcar which is a slight bummer only for me. Unrelated - is there a bad day(s) of week to drive to/from San Diego for a day at the zoo? I’m thinking the choice should be the downtown one over safari park?

Are you planning to be based in Anaheim all 7 days? I think you re looking at about 1hr 45 - 2hr drive from Anaheim to SD on pretty much any morning if you are just going for the day. I’ve never done the safari park only the San Diego Zoo. If you ve never been to SD I’d definitely do the San Diego Zoo which is actually in SD proper. The Safari park is kind of in the middle of nowhere. If you re just making a day trip out of it I guess it really doesn’t matter though. Unless you stop at the Gas Lamp district, Old Town or Little Italy for dinner on the way back to Anaheim. I think it might be worth staying in SD a night or two depending on what you re plans are. Old Town and Coronado would be worth a visit. There’s also some good eats in SD.

Thanks, yeah maybe a week at DLH rather than breaking up the hotels between DLR and San Diego just to keep it simple. Planning on renting a car from Pixar place a day here and there for San Diego zoo/lajolla cove for seals, maybe Griffith observatory another day. San Diego could easily keep us busy for 2 days , but don’t want to split stay the trip. Would also love to hit the desert at night somewhere to see the true night sky as out East it’s impossible. Any ideas on that front ? Thinking we would need to drive pretty far to see that ?

Head rural in Joshua Tree or Anza Borrego. There is camping there. Also Afton Canyon is interesting area past Barstow. You need an off roading vehicle to access Afton Canyon.

Cool , Joshua tree looks like a couple/few hours away, can you just pull over somewhere around there after dark without being bothered?

Yeah, or even going to Palm Springs is pretty good for getting good sky views. The big problem is that you're going to hit a pretty large amount of traffic in the evening heading from Anaheim out towards that area, as there'll be a ton of commuters using the 91 Freeway at that time.

As an alternative, Griffith at night gets pretty good views of the sky still and may be easier to get to, especially if you're going anyway. They have a great view of sunset so a lot of people go up there each evening.

On futher thoughts-I may most likely purchase the Enchant pass. But the block outs are still concerning due to my friend having the Inspire tier.

I get that packing and switching hotels might not be ideal but considering traffic/ drive time and how much there is to do in SD it might be worth staying there a night or two. Depending what else you are planning on doing with the other 2 non Disney days of course.
