How do the cast members know that your staying on site to get on the rides during EMH ?

How do the cast members know that your staying on site to get on the rides during EMH ?

They check your Magic Band/or card by scanning it and if you are not staying onsite they do not let you on the ride etc.

I stayed at Hilton LBV which has extra magic hours, they ask to see your room key and let you on the ride.

I hate the new method. I don't understand why they don't just have you use the FP side and scan as you walk in. Surely they can set up the system to an "EMH" mode. It's just a pain gathering at the entrance and hoping that their scanner works or isn't slow.

Yeah I lined up at the haunted mansion 5 minutes after the EMH took affect and there was a line of 30 people waiting to get scanned.
