Ellen's Energy Adventure?

Is Ellen's Energy Adventure worth the length of the ride for two young adults?

I'm working on laying out my rough sketch of what we'll do each day on our trip, and I happened to stumble on the information that Ellen's Energy Adventure is a whopping 45 minutes (according to WDW website). That seems like a LONG time to be on one ride lol.

I searched around here, and the most recent thread I could find was 2008, so I figure a new thread is warranted. Given Epcot's current lineup, if you were just planning to go for a few hours one morning and leave after lunch (we have ADR's at BoG that evening and will likely want to go back to the room and shower before dinner), would this ride be worth it for two 31-year-olds? I read where people said this ride is great for escaping the heat for a nice, air-conditioned break lol... but what about beyond that?

I always enjoy it but I'm never in a rush at EPCOT so wouldn't want to make you miss something else you may enjoy more by recommending it.

If you weren't rushing I'd say definitely. I think adults are more likely to enjoy it than kids due to the slow pace and humour.

That makes sense.

It's because we were able to snag surprise ADR's at BoG on that day. The only time I could grab was 6:05, and DH will want to go back to the room before we head there for dinner, so I figure we need to be waiting for a bus to the hotel by about 3:00 or so. I guess we could drive to Epcot to save a little time but that will only help so much.

I should probably add that I figure we will do World Showcase on our last day there. We have friends with AP's who are coming out to meet us, and since we never see them I figured we could socialize better if we did that together than if that whole time is focused on waiting for rides, so the first day at Epcot would really be more about the rest of it.

Sigh... that survey question should probably say "younger adults" lol. We tend to like the same stuff as most 18-21 year olds so I guess it works either way ;)

If you're just staying in future world and run out of things to do go for it. I'd rather ride spaceship earth twice (I think it's 15-20 minutes plus you could spend an easy half hour playing with gadgets in the exit area). I'm not a fan of Ellen's energy adventure. I think it needs overhauled with shorter videos, maybe throw the Big Bang cast in there as hosts and have the scenes go through history and future of energy (mines, steam engines, coal plants, nuclear, wind power, fusion, etc.).

You know...if you never have done it then you should.

If you've done it once then that is enough. That is my feeling on it. Although, I have been riding the same ride since 1996 so at this point if we ride it is for a 30 minute air conditioned power nap. But do it once otherwise someday when it is torn down to make way for bathrooms or a meet-n-greet you will wish you had.;)

If they've never been on it, I say do it. However, there are better rides in the park, in my opinion. Most of the "ride" consists of watching film clips starring Ellen or clips about the universe. Only a small portion includes animatronic dinosaurs. Overall, i'ts a long experience, and kind of cheesy. Other than beating the heat and providing rest, you will finally learn what source of power will never run out.....now, don't you want to know that?

TIP: Don't sit down on the floor when you enter the first area, they will ask you to stand up anyway. :)

I really have not riden it since it first opened. I was never a big Ellen fan comedy wise (Yet I enjoy her talkshow... strange)

Bill Nye had some major pull though, but his spot in the entire ride is more brief than I thought. I'm doing a solo trip in less than a month, I might try it again then. :)

It's not something I would go out of my way to do. You have limited hours and this is a fairly large commitment. The payoff isn't there. But if you blow through FW and have time left, Ellen is there. If you are getting over-heated and need to get off your feet, Ellen is there.

The last time we rode it was 2010 and the baby took a very pleasant 45 minute nap. That was the best reason I can think of to queue up for Ellen's Energy Adventure.

So do it if you have time. But it should be very, very low on your priorities. Perhaps the least essential pavilion in all of Epcot.

Between wasting three hours on transportation and riding EEE and the monorail with time to spare, I'd take the latter. Maybe you can bring a change of clothes in a bag and put it in a locker and change in the bathroom.

I wouldn't waste time for the part with Ellen, but the dinosaur part is really good. It is a classic, and given how unpopular it's become, it might be your last chance to ride it. I haven't heard any rumors, but the next time they decide to replace a pavilion at Epcot, I'm guessing Energy will be it.

Or do it when you come back for World Showcase.

I would say if you have to trade off, skip Living With the Land AND Imagination to do EEE. I acknowledge not everyone likes EEE as much as me though.

Keep in mind that EEE may be closed during EMH, so maybe save Test Track or Soarin' for EMH. I can't remember if the Land and Imagination are open for EMH.
