I mentioned this yesterday in the previous Eliot Dyson thread, but as that thread is a bit long in the tooth now, I don't think anyone's checking it for updates to the POFQ live music situation. Fortunately, since I'll be at POFQ for the first time in October, I'm monitoring all things POFQ carefully!
However, here's recent news on Eliot Dyson's replacement from PortOrleans.org:
Now that the lobby refurbishment at Port Orleans French Quarter is complete, entertainment offerings at Scat Cat’s Lounge will resume on Friday, July 19.
Musician Tom Casey will join Scat Cat’s Lounge, performing a dynamic blend of piano and jazz vocals. Tom has previously performed at a variety of venues across the Walt Disney World Resort, including providing vacation cover for French Quarter's previous resident musician, Elliot Dyson.
Performances will take place Friday through Monday at 8:30pm, 9:30pm and 10:30pm. There are no performances scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
I know this isn't the news a lot of people were hoping for, but hopefully this guy is good. CTTOI, some of you may have even seen him before and can tell us. There are also photos of the now refurbished lobby registration area and the opening celebration for it. That must have been magical! Ha-ha. Well, they did have free beignets!
