Does anyone have any substantial information on this guy?
All I found on the net was basic business profile stuff.

By Bernard O'Riordan, Evening Standard, London Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News:

...Adding to Murdoch's woes are reports suggesting his second-in-command, Fox Group chairman and chief executive Peter Chernin, has been in secret talks about replacing Michael Eisner as Disney chairman and chief exec when the latter's contract expires in 2006.

Personally, I may be jumping the gun, but I'm weary of anyone who is tied to Murdoch. Can you just imagine some of the creative things that might come out of that scenario. "Scarier than Tower of Terror, it's Paradise Hotel. The Ride."

I agree with you about anyone associated with Murdoch, but until I can read more about what this guy is about and what he's done I'll try not to pass judgement.

He may not be Roy Approved, but he might not be all that bad, I found this:

From Business Week:
Best and Worst Managers of 2003
Peter Chernin
News Corp.

He's the anti-Murdoch. Peter Chernin is a former book editor who worked his way up Hollywood's power chain as a TV producer for Showtime and eventually head of the Fox (FOX ) Broadcasting Co. And he can finesse things at News Corp. for his high-powered boss, Rupert Murdoch, like nobody's business. Chernin, 52, oversees film and TV production of such blockbuster hits as X-2: X-Men United and runs Fox's fast-growing FX and other entertainment channels. Those properties helped propel the company to double-digit increases in revenues and earnings in '03.

52-year old Peter Chernin does not come across like your typical media CEO. No flamboyance, no arrogance, no showing off. Just a regular business guy. The bespectacled chief operating officer of News Corp and Rupert Murdoch’s No 2 looks more like a number cruncher or an economist. An affable one too. Which he is.

He is behind such mega blockbusters as Speed, Titanic and Independence Day, which he steered when at the Fox film studio in the early nineties. Impressed with his ability, Murdoch gave him the responsibility of running the Fox Entertainment Group (80 per cent owned by News Corp) in 1998. Which he has done fabulously well with his charge accounting for 75 per cent of News Corp's overall operating earnings.

He is seen to be the perfect foil to the septuagenarian Murdoch. And also a tough negotiator as Disney found out when Michael Eisner bought the Family Channel from News for $5.2 billion, a billion more than he should have paid.

I like that he got the best of Eisner in the Family Channel deal.

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
While Im no fan of Murdoch and his extensive media empire, I have to admit that here in the UK they have changed the face of broadcasting through Sky TV. The group as a whole is not averse to risk taking and seem to embrace new technology. Perhaps this may have rubbed off on the man in question?

Nope...I guess this thread is based on an article (there was a link in savedisney.com)about a possible successor

I don't know who the guy is but I don't like him....the question still bothers me though....WHO should replace EISNER?

Well...the main reason would be because he would be coming from The Fox Group....for now I would like to see someone like Steve Jobs as the next CEO...but that would just be my opinion...
