Eisner?

Ok, so I'm going to sound incredibly stupid and dumb asking this question, but I'll use my newbie excuse. :D

Who is Eisner and why does it seem like everyone on this board dislikes him? I gathered he is (was?) some high ranking guy in Disney. When I watched the Travel Channel they did a couple of behind-the-scenes segments on WDW. It seemed that they were constantly praising Eisner and even gave him credit for AK. But on the other hand, some people don't like him? I've tried searching on this Forum for info on him, but only got more confused.

I'm just curious who y'all are talking about? :veryconfu

Thanks in advance!

And it is the view of the majority (but not everyone) that he is poorly running the company and making bad decisions all over the place. Budget cuts, ride closures, job cuts etc.

And fireing all those poor animators just to make way for cheap 3-D animation instead of hand-drawn animation.

Let's be specific. Its the view of the majority on this messageboard.

Shellie,

The links provided are partisan to those against Eisner. The excerpt by John Taylor with re to the history of how Eisner became part of the WDC is also partisan, hence why Roy E Disney includes it on his website.

For a non-partisan/neutral view of this entire saga, i'd suggest doing searches on both "roy e disney" and "michael eisner" on the various better papers around the country such as the New York Times, LA Times, Boston Globe, Cleveland Plains Dealer, Miami Herald, as well as financial sources such as money.com and dowjones.com.

If you choose to side against Eisner after reading all the neutral stories you can stand, great. But i just figured i'd bring it to your attention that the links before-mentioned were only telling that side of the story and you'd naturally think that was all there was to know about this whole situation.

Oh, ok. I will do that then, thanks. :)

And a lot of shareholders too. Didn't he get a pretty hefty "NO" vote or something like that. Seems like I remember something along those lines.

Definitely read "Keys to the Kingdom." Very unbiased behind the scenes look at all the players.

But "alot" isn't a majority is it?

What we're talking about is Hank Scorpio's blanket assumption:

And it is the view of the majority (but not everyone) that he is poorly running the company and making bad decisions all over the place.

Which, when not defining the "majority of who?" question, implies that its a majority of anyone breathing which just isn't the case, hence my correction that the only majority that feels this way is the majority of people posting on these boards, of which the extent of many articulations is pre-natal at best.

You're right, many of the shareholders withheld their vote for Eisner, but not a majority.

IMHO, the problem with that statement is, that it doesn't take into account, that not 100% of shareholders voted in the first place...so then calculating the actual votes.... the majority of those who voted did so against Eisner....But your right, since some didn't vote, those votes went to Eisner and he got the majority, on a quite undemocratic technicallity...er I mean rule...

(Lets not forget how they delayed getting all the proxies out...quite coincidental I'm sure)

Thats good advice.

Because you're right...for someone who is unfamiliar with the whole deal, it would only be fair to expose them to everything out there...so they can make up their own mind...both sides have their good and bad points...I guess it comes down to who you dislike less.
