With all of Michael Eisners hard work and accomplishments at Disney why is he rumored to be out the door soon ?

Because Eisner didn't do a damned thing. He had others do all of the work (Katzenburg, Nunis, Wells, Baxter) to bring Disney around while he drew a fat paycheck and tried to play "Uncle Walt" every Sunday on ABC.

It is so good to see Eisner getting pushed out of the same door that so much talent bolted out of during his reign.

Isn't that what a good leader does. They usually have a vision and goals to get there, then they hire the right people to get the job done.

I'm not for or against Eisner but he did bring Disney back from the brink. Of course, it may be time for a new vision.

That's right, good leaders have visions, goals to achieve them, the abilities neccessary to achieve those goals, and ability to manage the process all the way through.

Eisner lacks all of the above.

If you look at Disney before and after Eisner, you can see that he was at the helm over periods of great change. Disney was a much smaller company before he came on board. How much credit he personally deserves can be debated, but he has shown himself capable of managing revolutionary change.

Recently Disney has been stagnating. Much of that is attributable to the economy, but if you are going to credit Eisner with the improvements in the '80s, you also have to give him some blame for what is going on now.

I am personally on the fence. I respect Eisner's past accomplishments, but I feel like the company could use someone fresh and energetic. I would like to see a smooth, amicable transition, but I'm afraid that's not in Eisner's nature. Things could get ugly.

Very well said garyhoov. If we are gonna blame Eisner for the current situation then give him credit for the accomplishments.

Also remember that a good captain doesn't do the work themself, they just steer the boat.

But like I said in my first post "it may be time for a new vision" (captain).

Some of the greatest leaders pass their prime at some point and that time has come for Eisner. It's just like sports teams. You may when a major championship but eventually the team is going to fall to shambles.
