Though this is only my opinion, I am willing to bet on it. Eisner's contract runs out in 2006, I just learned. He already said that he will not step down. I doubt that the Board will offer him a new contract in 2006, or if he even wants a new contract then. I am willing to bet that he will stay CEO until the very day his contract expires. This means he will be CEO for two more years, which IMHO is just fine. I've been a supporter of him, but is does look like he's getting tired and he should go out respectfully, rather than shamefully.
In two years time, he could getting films such as Chicken Little off to a successful start, as well as new theme park attractions, such as Expedition Everest off to a successful start. In two years time, the Walt Disney Company could start getting Eisner's successor ready for the job. This is better than abrubtly leaving the company to a chaotic mess. Two years allows an orderly transition, and a chance for Eisner to leave on good terms and with grace.
