Very very very cool...

But - one question...why would Disney let go of this?:veryconfu

I'm sure things like this have to get replaced over the years due to wear and exposure. At some point they may have also re-worded the plaque to say "Magic Kingdom" and not "Walt Disney World" for what's inside the park. (Offhand I'm not sure what it currently says... It's the one park dedication plaque I *didn't* take a photo of on my last trip...)

Nope, it says Walt Disney World.

Like you said, it was probably replaced due to wear and tear from over the years. I imagine the plaque's location makes it take quite a beating from all the elements over the years.

I believe this is a wooden replica used by Roy on opening day, as the bronze one would be rather heavy. I don't think this one has actually been used in the parks. I could be wrong, though.

I took a pictue of the MK dedication plaque. I can post it, if you all want. Oddly enough, the one in the park appears to be in worse shape than the one being offered for sale. Instead of having a dark background with gold text, the one in-park is all gold, with some spots of discoloration. Actually, it looks like it might have once had a dark background, but that has worn away leaving the spots of discoloration. Of course, this picture was taken in December of last year, so it might have been cleaned up since then.

In short, this is evidence for a wooden replica being sold.

They change out that one and the one at Disneyland I would say atleast once a year. They get a lot of wear from being cleaned each night, weather, and dumb guests.
