Early or late Febuary?

I have been on again and off again planning a Disney vacation. We now seem to have some flexability in Febuary. I realize that Feb 15th weekend is your presidents day holiday and will be very crowed, but how is it after the weekend say from Tues Feb 16th to the following Tues? Or Would the week before or the week after be a better option? As Canadians we are not worried about the cooler seasonal temps in Florida (when we lived there in the early 90's we would swim in the ocean in Feb), but it would be nice not to have the parks packed.

How do you feel about cheerleaders? We went one year during over the first two weeks of February and the National Cheerleading Championships were taking place at Wide World of Sports so we'd come across whole teams in some of the parks. Also Daytona was taking place the first weekend in February so it got a little crowded that weekend.

Not too worried about specific groups, more interested in recommendations or experience with crowds the week before Presidents day or the week after. Also are the crowds reasonable after the long weekend or should the whole week be considered crowded.

The last week in February is CRAZY! we have done it once(it's our break time) and it was more packed then April break. We've stayed during a cheer competition(different trip) and it wasn't too bad. sometimes they did crazy things in the pool at the resort but the lifeguards stopped them if they got out of hand.

In my personal experience, the weekend of or near a holiday is quite busy, but the following week, say mid-week should be ok. If you're looking for a time when the parks are not crowded, avoid the holiday and ESPN The Weekend which is the last weekend in February.

Have a great time. :xmas:

We alternate every year going January and February. February 2010 we are going the week prior to Presidents Week. We find it to be a very good week to attend, low crowds levels and that they do pick up slightly at the weekend. The cheerleaders were there, but we never found it to be any problem as they seemed to have events to go to and so rarely saw them in the parks themselves. Many attractions during that week we walked on without wait. Never been end of February.

We've had good luck going the first week in February. The crowds were manageable and the weather was fine. The only thing about going at the beginning of the month instead of the end would be the room rates. They increase around President's Day, I think. We liked paying value season prices.

Thanks everyone
I am hedging towards the week before Presidents week. Has anyone gone Just following the long weekend say from the Tuesday after Presidents day to the following Tuesday. My wife would like to look at all options.

If you look at Disney's seasonal pricing that will give you a clue as to the crowd levels they expect during what times of the year....I think it's "value season" up til mid Feb...so IMO earlier in the month is better for fewer crowds and also a less expensive vacation cost. After mid Feb, spring breaks begin and Disney considers that time of year PEAK season....we've been to WDW over spring breaks several times...the parks were packed.

Late January to early Feb used to be our favorite time to go years ago when our kids were young. Crowds were very low. :)
