Early Closing Times this Summer

Hi Everyone -
We are huge Disney Fan - as I am sure most people here are.
Anyway - - We are planning our usual Summer trip to Orlando and noticed something interesting.
During July and August MK is usually open until 12 or later - - According to the Dis website MK closes at 10pm for almost the entire month of July and August... I thought these were peak times..... yet the park is closing earlier.
Higher prices to go - higher crowds - less time to use the parks ? Seems strange.

Does anyone know if Disney changes their close times as the dates get closer?

We have been going to WDW every Summer for the past 12 years. This Summer their parks are closing earlier, with the exception of AK and Epcot.

It isn't uncommon to see park hours extended leading up to your trip. Sometimes they even extend it the day of, and that news gets spread around the parks by the CMs.

I saw a round of updates to June hours recently, so maybe July and August are coming soon.

I wouldn't worry though - sometimes, shorter hours can be a good thing...it may mean that the crowds are expected to be light. ;) Have fun!

Also, 1 of the favourite things about park hopping is staying up late. 2 or 3 Summers ago the MK's regular hours was 12:00 and we stayed there until 3am using Magic Hours..... That was a blast. Would love to do it again:)

My family will be at WDW July 1-6 and I also have noticed the early closing times. I looked back at last July just to confirm, and both MK and HS were open very late every night. July 4 is less than 3 weeks away and yet MK closing is still listed as 10:00--on the holiday! We plan to be at HS on the 6th and closing is listed as 8:30! Surely these will change, right?

I honestly hope they change - - - We were at MK last year for the 4th of July - It was open until 12 or 1am.....and PACKED !!!!!!!!!
My fingers will be crossed - - - we love late night riding - especially tomorrowland.
I sent an e-mail to customer relations last week inquiring about the possibility of extending their hours......just waiting to hear back.

I know that there have been cuts throughout Disney to try to pay for some of the cost overruns with Shanghai Disneyland. Perhaps these reduced hours fall into that category.

The parks were packed our last visit ( June 2-8)! The MK closed at 11pm! The AK also closed at 11pm! I thought that was ridiculous considering that the crowds were so heavy!:eek:

I know AK should be 11:00 nightly, and Epcot is always 9:00 unless there are Extra Magic Hours. I'm mainly shocked about MK closing at 10:00 even on July 4th, and HS closing at 8:30 even though the new Star Wars show is set to begin soon. I fully expect MK and HS to change, I'm just surprised no changes have been posted yet and it's already June 15th.

What are they thinking?
We want to go the second week of August this year - -it has been increasingly packed every year we go.
Midnight should be the earliest close time for MK - - - that park is usually crazy.

Glad you posted this, we're visiting late July and also surprised to see MK closing at 10pm every night?!

I know they normally update the hours but it does seem a little late, looking through this site it seems last year they updated the July hours mid March?!

Please e-mail disney and tell them how disappointed you are - - - perhaps if enough of us do it - they might change it.
Packed parks + less time = less time to enjoy rides and the ambiance.

People with very small/young children stop spending after 10pm - - - Most stores are always packed / even at midnight.
