Early at AK

Is it nreally worth going early to AK to see the animals? I've only ever gone in early and headed straight for the kilimanjaro safaris. The only time i've done it later in the day was when the park had just opened and i dunno how well established the ride was then.

Going later in the day is just as good as going in the morning. Except later in the day the lines are very short for the kiliminjaro Safari and you can probably walk on. There might be an animal or two that you don't see but is practicly the same.

If you go in the morning the line is about thirty minutes.

We always get to AK early but do things differently than the other people there. We head straight to Dinoland and Ride dinosaur (and now whatever else is there). Then we go to Asia and ride Kali (weather permitting) then we go to Africa and ride the Safaris. The Animals are still out and about in the afternoon. We avoid a lot of lines by doing it this way.

The animals are MUCH more active in the early morning. As with the true Serengeti Plains, the animals sleep in the afternoon. We saw the male lion walking around once in the morning...and tons of giraffe. In the afternoon, you can see most of them, but they are generally sleeping and therefore in the tall grass. If you're really lucky, you can see the animals eating in the morning! (adds to the feeling that everything is real and not a zoo...

animal activity also has a lot to do with how warm it is. if it's a cool day, then the animals are more likely to be up and moving constantly. if it's hot, they will be most active in the morning, and then napping in the afternoon. i loved going when it was cold, b/c the hippos would actually be out of the pools.

true...but lions sleep 20 hours/day regardless...they are only awake when fed...one thing I don't get is why the animals aren't as active when it's 85...I mean...it's like 105 during the summer in Africa...just shows that they were bred in captivity...
