DVC Rentals

Has anyone here ever rented a DVC stay. I calculated the cost and it seems worth it to me but was curious if anyone had any personal experiences with rentals.

I have been both the rentee and the renter. The price crushes what you get direct from Disney for the same accomodations.

Mouse Owners as the previous poster said is a great place to learn about the process.

DVCbyRequest.com is also a great source and I think a sponsor.

I have heard DVCRequest.com name-dropped a few times on the WDW Today podcast. I believe Len Testa has said he had used it.

I too am starting to look at renting DVC points for our next trip. But, even though we are 'experts' in some areas, the DVC stuff is just plain overwhelming to me.

I'm looking into it for our next trip (we found out about this option a little too late to change our plans for our "current," upcoming trip). I've read lots of online feedback, and the advice is typically to go with a trusted third party (e.g., David's Disney Vacation Club Rentals, or a similarly-established company), especially if you're renting for the first time, or else only rent from a reputable board member or friend who you know and trust, or for whom you can find recommendations from past renters.

I did the math, and if we rented DVC points next time, we could get a deluxe studio for 30-45% LESS than we'd pay for a moderate standard room (assuming we went with the least expensive option, Animal Kingdom Lodge DVC standard studios). Of course, the cost has to be paid up front and is non-refundable, but we'd purchase vacation insurance just in case there was a last-minute problem, which is our usual practice for any vacation.

I recommend looking into it! There are some good explanations of the process, and how points work, on the David's DVC rentals and "Rent My DVC Points" websites.

The one thing you need to remember is that with DVC they don't come in and make your bed everyday. Even if you are renting with points. You can of course pay extra for it but its not included. Also they only replace the towels in your room every 4 days as well, but of course you can pay extra for more towels.

We rented points for 2 nights to stay at the Wilderness Lodge last month. We rented a studio (which is basically the same as the standar room at the lodge we had already booked) which had a bed and a fold out sofa. Save us $140 by doing it that way and we had NO problems at all. We did it through dvc rental store and Paul was awesome. Yes it is non-refundable but if you know for absolute sure you will be going (aside from an emergency) it's great.

Good point. This wouldn't bother my family, although I realize others would find paying for an extra room cleaning to be worth the cost: we try to be "green" at home by using towels a few times before washing them, and making our own beds wouldn't be an issue. If we really wanted to, we could wash the towels ourselves, as laundry room access is complimentary for the DVC studios (and there are in-room machines in the suites).

For us being DVC members works out great. We don't need to rush and make our beds and we prefer not having someone coming into our rooms everyday to clean and make the bed.

They leave washing detergent in the room so you can wash the towels if you need more. We've never had any issues with less room cleaning.
