Buying the minimum amount of points, or very little extra, is it plausible to vacation to WDW during peak seasons such as easter or christmas week when the most amount of points are needed? Or do you have to buy a lot of extra points to make a 7 night vacation at that time period work?

Thanks
Donnie

Well first of all I'm not sure I fully understand you're question but I'll give it a shot. You want to stay in WDW, but don't think you'll have enough points? Good news! If you don't have enough points for that year to go, you can 'borrow" points from next year. You can do this because you get X amount of points each year. They just take some of the points you'll get next year and use them to pay for the current vacation. I hope that's the answer you're looking for!

Thanks for your reply!

I do understand what you mean. But if the total of points for that time period is that much higher than the introductory rate for DVC and the allotted points, we will be digging ourselves into a "points hole." For example, to vacation during New Years, rooms go for many more points than during regular season time. Therefore, more points are needed to vacation. Can you vacation for about 7 nights with the basic amount of points. OR do you have to buy a lot more points just to vacation during "holiday seasons."

I don't know if I made perfect sense. I'll wait till the DVC CM person calls our house and my dad talks to her. But thanks for taking the time to read my concern!

Maybe this will help. Premier season, (Christmas and easter)one week at BCV (same points for VWL) is 181 in a studio and 350 in a one bedroom. The points double for the weekend so we often stay in a studio for the weekend and move to a one bedroom for the rest of the week.

In comparison during adventrue season (all of Jan, sept and Dec 1-14) it is 104 for a week in a stuido and 200 for a week in a one bedroom. (270 for a 2 bedroom)

We have found you can fit a family with 2 small children in a studio fine, but the one bedrooms are extra nice.

OKW tends to be less points and bigger rooms (for the one bedroom and bigger. Adventure season is 8 points a night Sun-Thrus, but 20 points on Fri & Sat, for a weekly total of 80 points. a one bedroom the same time would cost 160 a week. During Premier week a studio is 147, and 296 for a one bedroom. As said before you can save a lot of points by not staying there on the weekend, making Sunday the big check in day.

As Disneyfan81 said you can bank or borrow 2 years points to make bigger trips (if you have 150 points the minimal amount, you can get a total of 350 points over 3 years.)

www.disboards.com has about 1000 or more DVC member on it who know it all, they have taught me a lot.

We love DVC and are soooo glad be joined.

We started out with the min (150) and after a year found it wasn't enough for us. We like a 2 bedroom at OKW but go during the slow time, so we bought 80 more points, and now we are very happy.

When you meet with a sales guy, he can figure how many points you'll need to stay where you want, in the room you want, at the time of year you want.
