DVC Pool Hopping

Has anyone ever done this? If you do, how does it work, aren't all pools fenced in and needing a magic band or is that just some of them.
I know many are off limits but curious how it works.

I’ve done it, but only at SSR.

We asked at the front desk and the CM told us to just go down to the pool and speak to a life guard.

They advise you to call before you go. Have your DVC card, or electronic version, handy. The gated pools tend to be off limits for pool hopping anyway. Although I know they now allow it at AKL and Kidani is gated - I guess you would need to speak to a CM to get in.

Can’t you still get into Kidani’s pool without a Magic band using the back entrance by the gym?

To me the back entrance is the one across from the Rafiki elevator, and by the pool bar. That’s the only one we used as it was handy to our room. And that one did have a gate.

The Gym is the entrance nearer to the lobby. I’d say that is the main entrance. Not sure if it’s gated or not.
