If I'm going for 5 days the last full week of June 2016 with six people, is it typically a smarter choice to just stay at an AoA's suite or am I close to the cost of a villa at say AKL? Trying to gauge value/experience on our next vacation.

And how hard is it to link park tickets, rental DVC points and dining all to MDE?

There are a few of factors:
What is your price per point?
What type of room(s) you need?
Which 5 days are you going, including a fri/sat stay?

Linking the tickets and DVC confirmation is very easy.

Well, in checking the WDW site, a suite at AoA will cost you about $2300 for the 5 days. If you go DVC, you will be required to get a 2 bedroom unit for 6 people, and even at $14/point for rentals, a standard suite will run over $2800. Savannah view would be over $3600.

To add if they stay at Kidani Village @ AKL (not Jambo they still have just 2) they will have 3 full bathrooms in a 2 bedroom Villa (not just 2 like AOA and not as nice in master at AOA), full size washer/dryer (at any villa), full size kitchen, awesome master bath with seperate large shower and whirlpool tub, better pools at Jambo and Kidani, etc. So if not in a Savannah view room for only $500 more bucks I would pick Kidani in a heartbeat over AOA as you would also be in the "deluxe" resort catagory and not "value". So that's things to consider too. :)

Ok, do we get room first thru point rentals and then add dining? Forgot the how do I get on the dining plan question as well. Thank you for all the responses

Some rental sites you have to ask to have the dining plan added at the time of booking/renting the points. I would call/email and ask what the rental site you are usings policy is on adding the dining plan. :)
