This is totally hypothetical, but assuming you have an extra $25K lying around, which would you rather buy, a DVC membership, or a WDW Club 33 membership?
For me it's the Club, but that's just because I'm a snob and love good cocktails and sorely miss being able to have one in the MK :)

We actually have both. Just kidding. We are in the DVC though and it's the greatest decision we've ever made. I don't see how it could even be a tough choice really. Club 33 is basically just a corporate wooing ground it seems to me. DVC has incredible value if you like to go a lot and I feel like in only 9 years of membership we have gotten more than our money's worth.

First off, a $25,000 DVC membership is a good sized contract, you can get quite a few poitns for that.

Seeing as I am in NJ, and doubtfully would get to Club 33 on a regular basis, DVC is the way to go.

I'm a DVC member so I will join 33. However, if I didn't have DVC, that's what I would take. Knowing that DVC gets me vacations and I can sell and rent my points, that makes more sense. After you buy into Club 33, you still have to pay to get there.

If I could afford enough DVC to use it like I'd want to, I could afford to join Club(s) 33.

I've always had a long standing bias against timeshares so I've never seriously considered any (although I suspect Disney's might be different from the norm) but in this case I'd have to choose DVC over 33 because I think I'd feel like I was getting more for my money for a nice resort room that I would have had to pay for anyway versus a lounge with food and drink that I wouldn't have felt I needed to go to.

I voted for DVC even though I already own it.

I know the Disneyland Club 33 has a $25,000 initiation fee and a $10,000 yearly fee. Does anyone know if that includes the meals you eat there or do you still have to still pay for meals there? Just curious.

You still need to pay for your meals. Think of it like a country club membership where you still have to pay for what you eat even though you pay a large annual fee.

I don't see the fascination with Club 33. I suspect the food won't be any better than the best of the signatures. While it isn't of any interest to me, I can see why some people would want to join Club 33 in Cali for the possibility of seeing famous stars there, but the chances of a star sighting is Orlando is substantially lower. What do you really get for the price tag?

I'm looking forward to seeing the price point for Walt Disney world. While I think it would be fun I couldn't see the value in it like you get with DVC.

Yeah Disney's is definitely different from the norm. Right before we joined we went to a presentation for a local timeshare here and man it was a TERRRRIBLE experience. We were still both in our early 20's and the woman that was the salesman we talked to got insanely pushy and wound up calling us "spoiled, rich kids" and storming off. We were not and ARE not rich kids. She just assumed we must have been "rich" because we went to Disneyworld all the time. So right after that happened was when DVC announced the building of BLT and as soon as they said that we knew we were gonna be buying in. We went to the presentation and it was absolutely zero pressure. They answered every question and didn't seem "cagey" at all. We bought in and after a couple of years decided we wanted more points and were able to smoothly acquire them as well. It has been great for us. The flexibility is phenomenal and the value is as well. We always have deluxe accommodations and know when all of our trips can be. I can understand a bias though because when I hear people joining just regular old timeshares I always cringe. Then when they tell me the crap they have to put up with to own at certain places I'm even more grateful to be a DVC member. I acknowledge that it's "not for everybody" but man if you love to go multiple times a year and really plan ahead it is just great.
