DVC Grand Floridian Villas Standard vs Lake View

Hi all!

We own at BLT and have stayed there 3 times since we bough in. We usually stay in a two bedroom lake view room and couldn't be happier with the accommodations. We will be visiting again in May 2016 and I am already thinking about our May 2017 trip.

For May 2017 I am going to try and snag a one bedroom lake view room at the GFV in May and wanted some input as to the opinion of the Standard View vs Lake View differences. What are the opinions out there about the point differences being worth it. I greatly appreciate your advice and guidance.

I'll be able to tell you in a couple weeks. We stayed in a 1BR "Standard View" in March 2014, and we'll be staying in a 2BR "Lake View" from 1/23-1/27.

The Standard View looked out over the fountain and monorail, so it wasn't bad at all. We'll be spending more time in the room this trip, since we'll have a 14-month-old, so we thought we'd try the Lake View.

If you don't spend a ton of time at the room, or don't use the balcony much, a Standard View at GFV will be just fine. It's not like other Standard View rooms, where you're looking out over rooftops, parking lots or dumpsters.

We have stayed in a two bedroom three times, once in a standard view and twice in a lake view. Both our lake views looked towards the Poly and were alright. If we went to the far edge of our balcony we could see Space Mountain and some of the fireworks. The one time we had standard view our room overlooked the back exit, the back fountain and the pool with the rest of the Grand Floridian resort behind it. I actually preferred that view more than the lake view.

Ive done both and liked both about equally. If you do get standard I would recommend requesting a room facing the GF main building, it really is a lovely view especially at night,

Here are some photos from a Lake View room. These were taken from the room at the very end of the hallway closest to the Wedding Pavillion. In my opinion, these rooms would have the best views available.
